"Like I said, ma'am. We can't help you."
The officer looked me dead in the eyes, then turned away like I didn't matter.
"W-What? Why not?!" I asked, my voice shaking in frustration. "He almost killed me last night!"
The two officers exchanged a look and sighed. One of them finally said something."Well… you're not dead, are you?"
I stared at him, speechless. "Are you serious? Why aren't you taking me seriously? Did he bribe you or something?!"
At that, one of the officers shifted uncomfortably and looked away.
"Listen," the other one said, "We get girls coming in all the time complaining about their boyfriends. None of them died, did they?"
I clenched my fists. "And what if I do die? Are you gonna take responsibility then!?"
"You're wasting our time," he replied coldly. "We have bigger problems to deal with. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
I bit my lip and stormed out of the station, holding tightly onto Candy's leash.
"Why won't anyone believe me…?" I muttered under my breath. "Should I just report them too?"
Ding
My phone buzzed. I pulled it out quickly.
"Siri, read the message."
Siri: "Message from Unknown: 'Hi. Are you not home?'"
My chest tightened.
No… not again.
Is he seriously texting me like nothing happened last night? Like he didn't try to hurt me?
I stood there frozen, heart racing. My hands trembled as I whispered, "Siri… block the user."
My voice cracked. I shoved the phone back into my pocket and looked around.
I need to do something. Fast.
He's probably outside my door again. But how did he even get my new address…?
If changing houses doesn't help, should I leave this whole area?
But where would I even go? I don't really know anyone far away...
I walked to the nearest bus stop and sat down, trying to calm myself. Candy sat close by, her head resting on my leg.
I pulled my phone out again.
"Siri, call Yusra."
Siri: "Calling Yusra…"
Yusra[on the phone]: "Suha? Hey! What's up?"
I hesitated, then sighed deeply.
"I… I need your help."
