'Ugh I feel like crap' Damien thought all dressed up like a doll with a polite smile on his face that Didn't even try to reach his eyes. He couldn't even tell you what his father wanted from this father and son and didn't care to iinquire as he let his mind wander off. His piercing blue eyes moving to clash with brown? No maybe hazel the way it danced in the light it couldn't be deemed as a simple brown.
"Do you guys want to go off and play?" It was the count who spoke smiling like a grandpa indulging little children. Before Damien could even think of a reply his father already showed the two kids at the room. There loomed an awkward silence over the two kids. It's not that Damien disliked the thought of having a friend he just didn't know how to play with kids his age never getting the chance too. Always stuck in that damn dark stuffy room.
"You have beautiful eyes" a soft timid voice speak. Shock filled Damien face as he turned to see goofy grin on the other boys face. " y-you too" Damien said nervous. "Hehe thank you my name is Leland but you can call me Lei like my papa does what about you?" Lei said cheerfully. Damien took a min to procees the question before replying "I'm just Damien..."
"Oh" Lei nodded silence between them creeping in again. Damien too a deep breath preparing himself as if he was going to war. "Do you wanna play swords?" He asked tentatively. Lei eyes practically lit up he nodded "you like to play with swords too?" Damien nodded it made him feel strong when he practiced the sword. Like he was finally gaining some semblance of control over his life. Who knows maybe one day he'll be strong enough to plunge a sword through his father's chest he smiled at the thought.
The sun was beaming you could literally see the air pulsing with heat. Still two kids were in the field with wooden swords. The darker haired boy aggressive and relentless in his swings while the hazel eyed boy was more fluid and flexible intensely studying the other swordsmanship. "Damien who is your teacher? Your swordsmanship isn't quite as polished as a soldiers it kinda reminds me of more a Mercenary." Lei said puzzled, Damien paused his movement of assault. "I don't have a teacher my father doesn't think I need one."Damien said not wanting to explain futher. Why would he spend so much thought on his son he doesn't even pay attention too...
Lei saw the change of mood and quickly changed topics "well I could teach you some techniques and bring you some books." Damien whole face broke out in a smile "really?" 'Woah' Lei thought 'this is the first time I saw him smile I think' "Hehe of course your really strong but it's not good to only rely on strength my papa says in a fight it's not about who is stronger but who is more prepared."
"Lei" a strong voice shouted "cmon now it's time to go." Lei pouted as he was dragged away by his father "bye bye." He waved to Damien who couldn't help but smile at the sight 'cute' he thought till he turned to the sight of his father 'not so cute'. His father always has a permanent scowl on his face but seeing tattered state of Damien it deepened even more. "You can't just help but being embarrassing dont you think this is why I could never love you" he said coldy then just walked off. Damien couldn't help the tears coming to his eyes his hands clenched as he struggled to control himself not from sadness but anger as he stared with a downright murderous look in his eyes at his father ever so broad back.
Lei watched in confusion not understanding the look. Not knowing he would regret not inquiring further. How that one moment would eventually become a recurring nightmare.
