Cynthia and Dawn had arrived in Jubilife City not long ago. Just a few minutes earlier, Dawn had entered the city alone to buy clothes for Lina and Cyan, who were still wrapped only in blankets.
The four of them walking together through the streets drew a lot of attention from the trainers they passed. Especially Cynthia, Cyan, and Lina. It wasn't that Dawn wasn't pretty, but compared to Cynthia, a famous trainer, she was just a young girl at the start of her journey.
The reason Cyan and Lina drew so much attention wasn't because of their attractive appearance, but rather their clothing, which resembled cosplay.
Lina wore an outfit that looked like a jumpsuit or bodysuit, predominantly navy blue. It resembled the colors of a Garchomp. Her outfit had a V-shaped neckline at the front, with a central section in a reddish-orange tone that extended down to her abdomen. Combined with her tail and pair of horns, she really did look like a Garchomp... a very sensual Garchomp.
The outfit Cyan wore was much more discreet, perhaps to hide his appearance so others wouldn't notice him. This had been decided especially by the three women accompanying him.
His body was almost completely covered by a long, dark coat, which seemed to be made of a heavy material—perhaps leather or a thick fabric—in black or charcoal gray. The coat had a hood trimmed with light, fluffy fur.
The piece was detailed with intricate gold embroidery along the edges and on the sleeves, standing out against the dark fabric.
There were also several visible gold buttons and clasps down the front of the coat.
Beneath the coat, he wore a dark shirt or turtleneck. Several chains and a necklace with a sharp, golden pendant adorned his neck and chest. He also wore a dark belt with a gold buckle and dark gloves. His pair of wings emerged from the back, along with his tail, which wouldn't stay still.
Ignoring the stares from people around them, they entered a hotel and headed to the front desk. There, a young woman in a business suit greeted them with a smile and a warm welcome.
"Welcome to the Grand Lake Hotel!"
Hearing the name of the hotel, Cynthia frowned.
"Doesn't the Grand Lake Hotel sit on Route 213?" she asked.
"Well, the main hotel is indeed on Route 213, but two years ago, Miss Mitsuha Yamano decided to buy the hotel and open other branches."
Hearing the receptionist's explanation, Cynthia decided not to ask any further. But Cyan was different. That name wasn't unfamiliar to him.
'If I'm not mistaken, Mitsuha isn't a Pokémon character... A reincarnator??'
That possibility filled Cyan's heart with dread. He didn't have any prejudice against reincarnators—as long as they had common sense. The problem was that none of those he had seen or read about were good people.
All of them were hypocrites with distorted senses of justice, and all of them were manipulators. The worst part? The cursed "golden finger" or "system." That little advantage only made them crueler. If this really was a reincarnator, he would need to be careful. But... what if it really was Mitsuha Yamano?
In Mitsuha's story, she is saved by a strange being who travels between worlds. After their encounter, she discovers that part of the creature's power remains with her, granting her the ability to cross into other worlds.
'If it really is the true Mitsuha Yamano, then I don't need to worry.'
Despite the possibility, Cyan decided to assume the worst. Of course, it could be a crossover world, but he dismissed that option.
After completing the hotel registration, they now stood in front of the door to the main suite.
"Just one room?" Dawn asked, looking at Cynthia strangely. She had no problem sharing a room with Cyan—after all, to her, he was still her little Pokémon.
Cynthia glanced at Dawn and answered in a slightly sleepy voice.
"Yes, after all, this hotel only has one main suite, and this trip was funded by the League, so I want to avoid extra expenses."
Understanding Cynthia's logic, they all entered the room. The main suite of the luxury hotel was spacious and dazzling. The walls were lined with polished wood panels and subtle golden accents. A large crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting a soft, welcoming light throughout the space. The floor was covered by a thick, soft rug in light tones, and the wide windows offered a privileged view of the illuminated city. In the back, a king-size bed with immaculate white sheets and fluffy pillows invited them to rest, while a small sitting area with comfortable sofas and a glass coffee table completed the space.
Cyan looked around, clearly impressed, his eyes shining at so much luxury, still trying to get used to a world so different from the one he once knew. Dawn, in turn, opened a delighted smile, her eyes taking in every detail with enthusiasm. She took a deep breath, savoring the faint floral scent of the room, and murmured almost to herself:
"Wow... what a beautiful place..."
Cyan, at her side, simply nodded in agreement with her murmur. Cynthia found their reactions amusing. Soon, she placed her coat on a hanger near the entrance. As she walked toward the bathroom, she turned back, looking at Dawn who was still admiring the suite.
"In a few minutes, a maid will bring my luggage. Please bring me some clothes."
Without waiting for a reply, she simply entered the bathroom.
Dawn was confused for a moment but soon understood. As a woman, she knew how uncomfortable it was to feel sweaty. Even though Cynthia hadn't exerted herself much in the battle, she still got a bit dirty.
Cyan, feeling bored, looked out the window. To his right, Lina was holding the box in which Ditto was trapped.
"Do you think this Ditto's strange power came from the same source that caused our transformation?" she asked without taking her eyes off the box.
Turning to Lina, he pondered for a moment. "I don't think so. After all, the Ditto didn't turn into a human."
Nodding at Cyan's answer, she thought for a little longer before giving up. Overthinking wouldn't lead anywhere. And this mysterious transformation apparently had no negative effects.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Two knocks drew the attention of the three present. They all turned toward the door.
"Must be the maid."
Getting up, Dawn approached and opened the door. The maid handed over a heavy suitcase and soon took her leave to continue with her duties.
---
In the shower, the hot water fell in a steady stream, sliding down Cynthia's long blond hair and over her pale skin, marked only by the faint scars of past battles. The steam filled the luxurious bathroom of the suite, fogging the mirror and wrapping the space in a silent, intimate haze.
Cynthia closed her eyes, letting the water massage her tense shoulders. Her mind, however, was far from that moment of rest. Images of Cyan appeared, insistent. That intense gaze, those almost ethereal features, the contrast between the strength and innocence he exuded in that unusual form.
'Why... why does he make me feel like this?'
Cynthia's fingers slowly rose, pushing the wet strands from her face as the heat of the water seemed to blend with the warmth growing in her chest. She rested her forehead against the cold marble wall, trying to drive the thoughts away. But it was useless. Cyan's face, that hypnotic gaze, the graceful way he moved... all of it repeated in her mind like a constant whisper.
The steam made droplets run down her skin, and Cynthia ran her hands along her arms as if the touch could dispel that mix of fascination and unease. The sound of the water filled the space, muffling the soft sigh she let out.
"This is foolishness..." she murmured softly, almost voiceless, as she let the water run its course, trying to wash away that desire she couldn't quite understand.
