Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Certification Task

[The database contains vast amounts of human scientific knowledge. The host can gain access by completing related certification tasks. The Dominion Lord template helps the host gather faith: the more beings that recognize the host, the greater the power boost the host will receive. The host can view data on individuals who recognize them but not on whom those individuals may recognize as other Chaos Gods. Please proceed cautiously.]

[The Assistant Sprite can answer your questions and help access available database knowledge.]

"No store? No 10x gacha draw?" Guilliman's heart sank.

No overpowered features?

How was he supposed to defeat the traitorous Primarchs?

How could he fight the Chaos Gods??

This so-called "cheat system" had nothing flashy at all! What use was this kind of assistant?

The Chaos Gods were practically fully geared and at humanity's doorstep. And now they gave him this so-called goldfinger? How was he supposed to win?

Guilliman felt like asking the Chaos God legions: "Can I surrender and just lose half?"

[This is a serious support system. It does not include any of that ridiculous nonsense.]

"Come on, big bro, seriously? Even massage parlors know that playing it straight doesn't make money. You, a system, still don't know how to adapt?"

Guilliman wanted to scream.

This was clearly a death sentence!

Without a top-tier cheat system, with Chaos being monstrously strong, the Imperium plagued by Xenos, infighting, and lurking horrors — what chance did he have?

[This system believes in you, host. Please do your best.]

"What good is your trust? I don't even believe in myself."

Guilliman ranted in his mind.

You trust me??

Even the Emperor, the ultimate being, got stuck on the Golden Throne — tortured for ten thousand years. If he ended up like that, what hope did the rest of them have?

This was no joke.

The Emperor was the ultimate protagonist template:

Power? He could snuff out stars with his psychic might. It took all four Chaos Gods combined to stand against him.

Strategy? Crushed alien threats and military warlords alike, unifying humanity.

Ideology? From being worshipped as a god to leading an anti-religious crusade.

Achievements? United mankind, lit the Astronomican, laid the foundation for a ten-millennia-long empire, and was on the verge of triggering a mass ascension of humanity.

Guilliman had never seen a novel protagonist written that ridiculously OP.

And even he got stuck on the Golden Throne, suffering eternally.

Who could do better than that?

This "cheat" might delay death, but in the end, it was still a game over.

 ….

"My Lord."

Guilliman had been deep in thought, only pulled back to reality by the voice of Saint Celestine.

Her voice was beautiful, with a unique, magnetic tone only saints seemed to have.

It made one want to keep listening.

After a brutal battle, Celestine's armor was shattered, her body covered in horrific wounds. Even with her incredible regenerative powers, she was still bleeding heavily — the sight was heartbreaking.

Celestine had played a major role in Guilliman's resurrection.

Thanks to her suggestion, the Black Templars and other Chapters had agreed to protect Belisarius Cawl, the Mechanicus priest with the knowledge to revive him.

Because of that, Cawl was able to escape the doomed fortress world of Cadia and gather Adeptus Astartes forces along the way, eventually performing the resurrection on Macragge.

Guilliman looked at Celestine with a questioning gaze.

"Praise the Emperor, for He has returned His noble son to us," she said, bowing slightly despite her injuries.

Saints were the Emperor's most devoted believers, His messengers walking the mortal realm.

In this bleak, bloody galaxy, they were humanity's brightest hope — proof that the Emperor still watched over them.

Saints were extremely rare in the Imperium.

Their noble spirit and unwavering faith earned them the Emperor's blessing, granting them a measure of His divine power.

To the Emperor's gene-sons, someone like Celestine was utterly loyal.

Her voice trembled.

To witness a Primarch return was to glimpse hope for mankind's future — hope that had long seemed extinguished.

….

"Father."

Marneus Calgar, Chapter Master of the Ultramarines, also stepped forward.

The usually stern warlord now looked overwhelmed, his eyes brimming with tears as he looked up at his resurrected Primarch.

For ten thousand years, the Ultramarines had held the line.

And now, at last, their gene-father had returned.

Among the Astartes, using one's genetic material meant calling the Primarch "Father" — an expression of deep gratitude for the second life their gene-seed had granted them.

Before Guilliman, even the legendary Calgar stood awkwardly, like a nervous new recruit.

"I'm proud. Even after ten millennia, my sons still fight for humanity."

Guilliman, now fused with a foreign soul but holding all of his memories and powers, spoke like a father to his son, placing a firm hand on Calgar's shoulder.

He looked calmly at those gathered.

"Lord Regent."

Others now arrived: Belisarius Cawl, Black Templars Marshal, Inquisitors…

Ten thousand years ago, after the Horus Heresy, a dying Emperor had entrusted Guilliman with the role of Imperial Regent.

"It's good to see you all again."

Guilliman's tone was solemn and commanding.

"The Imperium needs your guidance, Son of the Emperor," Celestine said, looking at him with reverence and hope.

As a devout believer, her long-standing prayer had been answered — the return of a god-king's son.

For her, this was a moment of immense comfort.

A demigod had returned to the battlefield.

With power and authority, he would lead the Imperium once more, standing against the dark tide that ceaselessly threatened humanity.

After ten thousand years of darkness, the Imperium of Man had finally seen a glimmer of dawn.

"That is exactly why I've returned."

Guilliman's calm gaze swept over the crowd.

His firm voice inspired courage in those present.

It gave them an odd sense of safety, as if a pillar of the world had returned.

"My return will make our enemies tremble. It will bring hope and celebration to our people. The light of humanity will once again shine across the dark stars. And every invader will pay for what they've done."

His words struck with weight and conviction — the kind that only a Primarch could carry.

He would deliver on his promises.

….

[Host has successfully triggered a Certification Task. Objective: Expel Chaos forces from Macragge. Reward: Level 1 database access unlocked.]

[Level 1 Access includes information on First-Generation Dark Matter Engines, planet-destroying weapons, and other advanced technologies.]

[This knowledge will support technological revitalization, helping the Imperium regain vitality.]

Hearing the assistant sprite's prompt, Guilliman focused inward and dove into the database to review the rewards.

Level 1 access already included dark matter engines and star-destroying weapons? Not bad.

He just needed to manufacture enough of them, blast his way through, and let the Xenos and daemons experience the art of stellar detonation.

After all —

"What's more satisfying than watching glass get melted?"
