Chapter 7 - The Alpha's Delima

Lucien's Pov

Lucien sat in his room, staring at the moonlight filtering through his window. His mind was restless, his body tense, as if something was pulling him beyond the walls of his home. An unfamiliar sensation surged through him, an invisible thread tugging at his core. It wasn't just instinct—it was something deeper.

Unable to ignore it any longer, he stood and made his way out into the night. The cool breeze carried the scents of the forest, but among them, one stood out—a scent so faint yet so familiar. His muscles tensed as he inhaled deeply. Who was trespassing into his pack's land at this hour?

He followed the scent, his steps swift and silent. As he neared the clearing, his eyes locked onto a lone figure standing in the moonlight. A girl.

His first thought was that she was an intruder from another pack. But something was off. She wasn't a werewolf—at least, not entirely. And she definitely wasn't human either. He could smell it now. Witch blood.

A hybrid.

His sharp gaze studied her. She looked… fragile. Confused. Innocent, even. She had no idea where she was or who she truly was.

He stepped closer, shifting into his wolf form, a deep growl rumbling in his throat. The girl gasped, her wide eyes filled with fear, but there was something else beneath it—curiosity.

As he closed the distance, the pull between them intensified. His entire body tensed as the realization struck him like lightning.

She was his mate.

---

Lucien had barely slept since that night in the woods. His mind was plagued with questions, but one truth stood above the rest—he had to see her again.

Lincoln, his beta and closest friend, wasn't pleased with his decision.

"You're really going to do this?" Lincoln folded his arms, leaning against the doorframe. "Going into the human world? Enrolling in a school? Lucien, this is reckless. You're an Alpha. You can't just—"

"I have to, Lincoln." Lucien's voice was firm. "She's my mate and your Luna. And she doesn't even know who she is. I need to be close to her."

Lincoln exhaled sharply, shaking his head. "This is dangerous. If the council finds out—"

"Then I'll deal with it." Lucien didn't hesitate. "I won't let her slip away."

And just like that, he made his decision.

By the next morning, he was standing in front of the college, blending in as just another new student.

---

Lucien's time in the human world was both fascinating and frustrating.

At first, Callista didn't acknowledge him. She barely looked at him. He could tell she was fighting something—denial, maybe. But the pull between them was undeniable.

Then came the moment at lunch.

He approached her table, hoping to talk, only for her friends to make an excuse and leave them alone. She was immediately defensive, demanding to know what he wanted.

Lucien didn't hold back. "Have you really forgotten? Or are you just pretending?"

The shock on her face was all the confirmation he needed. She remembered something. Even if she didn't want to admit it.

That was all he needed to know.

Without another word, he left.

He didn't return to school after that. Not the next day. Not the day after. If she was going to deny the truth, then he wouldn't push her.

But no matter how far he was from her, she was always on his mind.

---

Three nights had passed, and Lucien had buried himself in his duties as Alpha. But even as he stood among his pack, his mind wasn't here—it was with her.

And then, he felt it again.

That pull. That undeniable presence.

His head snapped up, eyes narrowing as he turned toward the woods. The same feeling that had drawn him out that first night had returned.

He didn't hesitate. He shifted into his wolf form and ran, letting his instincts guide him.

And when he reached the clearing, she was there.

Callista had come back.

Lushen's eyes met hers, and this time, there was no running away.
