Mel's eyes locked with the skeletal fires within the skull head, frowning slightly.
As expected, the lich kept its head bowed in respect to Nyrel. The cackling echoes of flames drummed in Mel's ears like a warning.
After considering a moment, a flicker of 'confusion' crossed Mel's eyes, as she asked with a relaxed tone. "Witches? Wasn't the Witch of Pride just defeated?"
The flames wavered within the skull and flared briefly, as if trying to sense if Mel's words were a lie.
As 'it' observed Mel's faint, unreadable smile, it continued. "It must have served quite a surprise to you, Miss Sakura."
"Hehe. It is quite a lot, actually."
Mel reevaluated the information in her head.
Nyrel, the Witch's Cult Leader and Pride's familiar, was deeply distrustful but obsessed with manipulating human powers to free her mistress - and to either kill or control the Witches.
