Chapter 20 - The Flying 'Great Miracle'

"I was born into a Christian family, and the doctrine requires believers to remain chaste before marriage..."

Seeing that Russell seemed to believe she was innocent from the start, Firecracker no longer acted like a spiky hedgehog, and her expression softened a bit.

"Heh, there are about 100 million religious families in the U.S., and the number of young men and women who adhere to this rule is probably rarer than a three-legged toad."

Russell said.

"You're right. Some girls who are naturally promiscuous give themselves to their boyfriends for temporary pleasure before they even become adults. Those kinds of bitches should all go to hell."

As if remembering someone, Firecracker lifted her chin, a complex light of pleasure and hatred flashing in her eyes, and said viciously.

It was the kind of expression someone has when mentioning the only area they are better than their enemy.

"Are You talking about Starlight and her boyfriend Supersonic?

When Starlight was young, she framed You in this regard and ruined You. The wronged grievance and anger make You particularly care about this point. Are You waiting for the day You gain power to use this to humiliate and mock Starlight?"

His eyes briefly left the computer screen. Russell's casual glance seemed to peel back layers like an onion, seeing through to the deepest thoughts of her soul.

"You... how did You know? No, I mean I'm not that malicious." Firecracker's eyes darted away slightly. "It's just that after that incident, everyone thought I was a little bitch who could be had with just a look.

I didn't want to become the kind of person people truly believed I was. I just wanted to maintain my virginity before marriage to prove myself."

"Haha, perhaps." Russell didn't care about Firecracker's lies. Searching through a list of flying Superheroes, finally, one Superhero's entry passed the filter and entered his sight.

— 'Great Wide Wonder'. His name was quite grand, but he wasn't a member of The Seven.

Russell had some impression of him; he seemed to be a character from The Boys World animated spin-off.

"Male, twenty-eight years old, excellent graduate of Vought International's Godolkin University, defense comparable to steel, maximum strength forty tons, maximum flight speed can reach Mach six..."

"Great Wide Wonder? What are You searching for his information for?" Firecracker was curious what he had been busy with. Was he perhaps posting online to brag about sleeping with a 'promiscuous and clingy' female Superhero last night?

Her sensitive nerves acted up again in this regard, and she couldn't help but glance over.

"Just some unlucky guy who can fly."

Firecracker crossed her arms and pouted, not seeing what was so interesting.

Ignoring the sexy beauty lying beside him, he was here searching for detailed information about a male Superhero.

"An unlucky guy who can fly, what do You mean?"

Russell became interested.

He was about to 'visit' this person precisely because he could fly.

"He can fly, don't You think his position within Vought International overlaps with a certain Superhero?"

Firecracker, also a Superhero, knew some unknown inside information and spoke gossipy with Russell, this 'ordinary person'.

"Are You talking about Homelander?"

"Who else besides him? Can You think of anyone in The Seven besides Homelander who can fly?"

"Doesn't seem... like it."

Russell thought for a moment.

"Homelander doesn't like it when, as he makes his entrance and fans cheer, someone can descend from the sky like a god alongside him, stealing his spotlight.

All flying Superheroes within Vought International not only have no hope of joining The Seven but are also sent far away from New York."

Firecracker shook her head, but her tone revealed a hint of envy.

"For example, this 'Great Wide Wonder', the city he's contracted to provide security for is Seattle, which is over four thousand kilometers away from New York."

Even though Great Wide Wonder was someone Homelander could easily manipulate with a single word, he still possessed the superpower to individually contract and be responsible for a city's security.

He was still an existence that superhumans like her, who weren't even qualified to sign with Vought, could only look up to.

Thinking of this, Firecracker couldn't help but remember Starlight, who had managed to join The Seven, and her expression became somewhat dejected for a moment.

Barring accidents, she would never have another chance to get revenge and clear her name in this life.

"Homelander is really overbearing."

Russell rubbed his chin.

But then again, this really did seem like something Homelander would do.

"You think? Don't imagine that all those famous Superheroes have saintly character and are glamorous, hehe... it's all just packaging.

They're dark, perverted, and live such decadent lives that You wouldn't believe it if I told You; You'd just think this unknown, eighteenth-tier Superhero like me is jealous of them."

Mentioning this, Firecracker composed herself and sneered.

"For example, Great Wide Wonder, I heard this pervert loves to take girls soaring high into the sky, flying until the oxygen is thin, and he gets incredibly excited feeling them suffocate and die in his arms.

Not long ago, after being invited to give a speech at Columbia University, he even killed two honor roll graduates playing like this on the same day. Vought had to spend a lot of effort to cover it up."

"Really?"

Russell frowned, stood up, put on his pants, and prepared to leave.

News of this kind of pervert didn't surprise him much; he already knew how depraved and indulgent Superheroes in The Boys World were, and taking pleasure in human lives wasn't new.

"You're leaving?"

Firecracker saw from his movements and instinctively sat up.

"Oh, it's morning. Are You going to school? Which high school or university do You attend?"

She patted her forehead, remembering Russell's age, and smiled suggestively.

Having a relationship with a student who was still in school, Firecracker wasn't ashamed but rather proud.

When she was younger, some old men who were talent show judges, hearing about her, invited her to participate in the contests they were in charge of. The private messages they sent her were so greasy and disgusting they could make someone vomit.

Since then, she would feel physically sick when men older than her got too close; she only liked men younger than her.

"You're a bit too 'sturdy'. You should lose some weight."

Russell didn't answer. He was indeed going to school after doing something, but not a school in this World. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and commented critically on her figure.

Just like a diner who ate for free, leisurely picking his teeth and then saying the taste of the food still needed improvement.

"Hey, what do You know? This is the result of deliberately gaining weight. Do You know the hardships adults face in society?" Firecracker shook her head, finding it amusing.

The likes and dislikes of students who haven't entered society are always so simple and clear-cut.

Firecracker, whose path in talent shows was cut off by scandals after growing up, and who didn't want to yield to those disgusting old men, tried another path to surpass Starlight: starting a personal blog.

She deliberately targeted the vast gun-owning population across the U.S., joined the NRA, became a fervent supporter of gun ownership, and heavily promoted "gun freedom."

A beautiful girl who passionately advocated for gun freedom, using this unique, contrasting persona to gain followers.

For this, she even deliberately exercised and gained some weight, making her once slender figure look a bit sturdy, appearing like the kind of girl who would like firearms.

"The me You usually see on the blog, with hot shorts, fleshy thighs, supporting open carry, and clothing in the blue and red colors of the flag—my usual on-camera image is carefully designed, a typical look to attract Southerners."
