Chapter 44 - Homelander Will Know His Place

The day before yesterday, Ciscel sent a message to the Demon Detective. After he refused to stop the investigation, the other party sternly demanded that he cease his pursuit and immediately go to the Global Defense Agency to hand over the evidence he currently possessed.

As one of the best detectives on Earth, Darkblood smelled a hint of abnormality in this. Combined with Ciscel's known disposition, he suspected that Ciscel had discovered something and wanted to cover up the matter for Omni-Man, whom Earth couldn't deal with.

The Demon Detective thus came here, wanting to tell the truth to those who should know, so that Omni-Man's family would not continue to be deceived.

He couldn't understand why Russell would know about this, but Damian Darkblood knew his situation was very dangerous now.

"Cough... cough, a detective's innate mission is to reveal the truth." His figure suddenly dispersed, turning into a mass of black shadow, escaping from Russell's hand, and reappearing back where he had just appeared.

The Demon Detective's figure retreated, about to vanish into the shadows.

Clearly, he had been relying on this elusive ability to evade Ciscel's covert search over the past two days.

Zap!

"You're dreaming if you think you can escape at that speed in front of me."

Russell's figure instantly appeared before him as if teleporting. Before the Demon Detective could react, a heavy punch made his head ring, his ears buzzing.

"Aunt, I'll deal with him first."

Turning back to look at his aunt's frightened and uneasy face, Russell grabbed the dizzy Demon Detective like a dead fish and quickly left the house.

In just a few seconds, Russell arrived at Ciscel's office in the Global Defense Agency, hovering in mid-air, his cape fluttering, and threw Black Blood onto the ground.

"This demon, I'm handing him over to You, Ciscel."

His head hitting the hard ground with a thud actually made Darkblood clear up a bit.

Ciscel, who was handling documents, stood up, slightly startled, looking at the Demon Detective on the ground whom he had been searching for a long time, and said coldly with a hint of disgust.

"Darkblood, You have crossed the line. Your stubbornness regarding the so-called truth has threatened Earth's safety. I will prepare a ritual to banish You back to Hell, forever!"

"Impossible, I spent centuries erasing the ritual books specifically used to banish me!" Black Blood shook his head.

"It's the twenty-first century now, old man.

We have used artificial intelligence to piece together the fragments of the remaining book scraps into readable text."

Ciscel sneered, pressed the call button, and regardless of Darkblood's astonishment, immediately instructed the agency staff to prepare the banishment ritual.

After dealing with the Demon Detective, Russell took a few seconds to return home, just about to explain to his aunt why he wasn't surprised to learn that Omni-Man was the killer.

Upon entering, he saw a tall, strong back in the living room.

Next to him, Mark was busy looking down and smilingly replying to his lover's messages on his phone.

Facing her husband and son who had returned unexpectedly, Aunt Debbie was at a loss, her face slightly nervous.

"Nolan?"

"Did we have guests just now?" Putting down a box of British pastries he was carrying, Omni-Man's nostrils twitched slightly, his gaze sweeping across the room, as if casually asking his wife.

"No."

Debbie tried hard to keep her voice calm.

She had just heard that not only the best Demon Detective on Earth but also Ciscel believed her husband Nolan was the killer of the Global Guardians.

Coupled with her husband's various abnormal behaviors, she felt a chill throughout her body and dared not think further...

"Is that so?

Come and try the scones Mark and I bought on the way back, Russell."

Omni-Man kissed his wife's cheek, seemingly unaware of her slightly stiff body, and asked his newly returned nephew to try the pastries he had just bought from Britain on the way back, as if he believed her.

"Russell, the pastries from this shop are especially authentic."

After training all day, Mark felt significantly stronger. Thinking back to yesterday when he successfully comforted the sad and angry Eve, held the beauty in his arms, and established a relationship.

Everything was so wonderful. He was cheerful and joyful, replying to his first love Eve's messages, eating pastries, and casually greeting his Cousin.

Mark still didn't know that the house was now filled with undercurrents.

Before going upstairs after eating two pastries, Russell sniffed lightly, catching a faint, almost imperceptible smell of sulfur.

With his uncle Omni-Man at home, he couldn't find an opportunity to explain to his aunt how he had learned about the matter from Ciscel.

"I'll have to find another opportunity tomorrow."

Russell estimated that his uncle Omni-Man's move was very close.

If he discovered that even his wife, the person he trusted the most by his side, had begun to suspect him, then hiding his true face would be meaningless.

Omni-Man didn't care what anyone on this Planet thought of him, except for his three family members.

He had been hesitant to act precisely because he was afraid of scaring and hurting his family members.

...

The Boys World.

"Sir, this is what You requested.

Due to the extremely demanding conditions required for the reaction to produce Temporary Compound Five in the laboratory, the cost is too high. We currently only have a few sample tubes."

On the top floor of Vought Tower, in the CEO's office, Edgar respectfully handed over a tube of green liquid and said.

"Our researchers are accelerating their study on how to promote the reaction using other methods."

Russell played with the liquid, feeling the molecular composition of the tube of Temporary Compound Five in his hand.

After a while, he put down the tube of Compound V.

With a wave of his hand, an incredible scene occurred. Under the deep blue light, rows of Temporary Compound Five appeared out of thin air on the table.

"Sir, this is...?"

Edgar blinked in astonishment.

Creating things out of thin air, a power like that of a god, completely exceeded his understanding.

Although his mind was controlled by Russell, it didn't mean he had lost the emotions of joy, anger, sorrow, and surprise.

"Have the laboratory continue to research a version of Temporary Compound Five without side effects. On the other hand, screen and search among death row inmates across the U.S. for members of a temporary superhuman team who gain powerful abilities after taking the liquid."

Russell ordered without explanation.

While he could now casually create massive amounts of Temporary Compound Five with his matter manipulation ability, it didn't mean Vought's research project on Temporary Compound Five was meaningless.

He was very much looking forward to having a top-tier superhuman army completely under his control!

With Russell's current ability, it was still somewhat difficult to control powerful superhumans and modify their memories, but when the temporary superhuman team members hadn't taken Temporary Compound Five, they were ordinary people.

He could do anything to their minds, even wash them into a blank slate for him to draw on.

"It's just a pity..."

Russell's move just now undoubtedly greatly surprised Edgar, but it didn't provide any Conquest Points.

[Conquest Points increase when a person naturally exhibits emotions like genuine affection, admiration, awe, etc., which occur when their mind is conquered to a certain extent.]

"Methods like brainwashing make people unnatural and unable to provide any Conquest Points..."

"With these finished products, the laboratory experiments will also greatly speed up."

Looking at the liquids, Edgar's face showed joy, and he said impatiently.

Whether he served the Vought family before, or now regards Russell as his Master.

As the CEO, he truly disliked seeing a product under the company gain its own ideas, try to break free from control, and damage the company's interests.

"Sir, wait for me to assemble the temporary superhuman team for You.

He will realize that the company can elevate him to a god revered by all, or with a flip of the hand, cast him into hell, losing everything—including his life!

I believe Homelander will know his place and prostrate himself at Your feet."
