Chapter 139 - Chapter 138: Informing the team (1)

Kakashi was back in the large living room of Tony Stark's New York mansion. The team had gathered quickly after his message.

Tony, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, and Natasha Romanoff sat on the comfortable couches. They had arrived after the quick message from him. And Kakashi had said that it was urgent and important. They all knew that Kakashi was not someone that would call for dinner or parties even Cap and Tony who have met him not too long ago.

They waited for Kakashi to speak.

"Why did you call us?" Tony asked as the four people Kakashi called got seated. He held a bowl of ice cream in one hand and a spoon in the other. He looked curious but not worried yet.

Kakashi did not waste time. He went straight to the point.

"Well, we have another mission to save Earth from another calamity," Kakashi said.

Tony, who was eating ice cream, had to put the bowl down as his face went serious. The others three also got serious. The easy atmosphere in the room changed instantly. Everyone leaned forward.

Natasha raised an eyebrow. "Are more aliens invading Earth? Does Director Fury know about it?"

Bruce Banner spoke next. He sounded worried. "Is this the Chitauri? Is their leader… Thanos, was it? Coming to Earth himself? Why did you just call us? You should bring the others too. We would need everyone to fight the alien warlord. And his army is too big, We would need a lot of more support."

Natasha nodded and added his thoughts. "We should get help from Asgard this time. They have an army that we can use. According to the alliance that Kakashi forged with the queen and king of Asgard, they would have to help us. Let's stop them in outer space itself. This would limit the collateral damage."

Tony looked up at the ceiling as if thinking about the plan. He said, "If Kakashi here can use his large energy construct in outer space and that gravity thing in space, then I do not think that we have anything to worry about."

Tony had watched recordings of Kakashi's fight many times. He and Jarvis had studied every second of the footage. They had come to a clear conclusion. The man could not be explained with science.

The blue energy giant, the gravity orb, the lightning spears that erased aliens from existence, the way he moved faster than any sensor could track. None of it followed the rules of physics that Tony knew. It was impossible.

Yet it had happened. Tony's arrogance had to admit it. Kakashi was very, very powerful. More powerful than any suit Tony had ever built. More powerful than any weapon he could design.

The man had single-handedly stopped most of the invasion while the rest of the team fought the leftovers.

Tony felt a strange mix of jealousy and respect. He would never say it out loud, but part of him wanted to take the mask off and see what kind of person could do all that.

Kakashi loudly coughed to stop the conversation. Everyone turned to him again.

"We are not going to save Earth this time from invading aliens," Kakashi said. "Instead, we would be the ones invading this time."

Everyone then looked at him as if to ask what he meant.

They thought that he meant that they would be the ones invading other planets.

Kakashi shook his head. "Well, more like we are going to invade another universe… another reality itself."

Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff looked confused at that. Their faces showed clear questions. They did not understand what that meant.

But Bruce Banner and Tony Stark had excited expressions on their faces.

They said at the same time, "So the theory about alternate realities was true? I knew it!"

Tony and Bruce had talked about this idea many times before. Tony had built theories about parallel worlds based on quantum mechanics. Bruce had read papers about multiple universes and string theory.

They had argued late into the night about whether other versions of Earth existed. Whether other versions of themselves existed. They had dreamed about proving it.

Now Kakashi had just said it was real. Their scientific minds lit up with excitement. Tony's eyes shone. Bruce's hands moved as if he wanted to write equations right there.

They both felt like children who had just been told magic was real. But this was better than magic. This was science they had believed in all along.

Natasha asked, "And why are we invading another reality or universe, whatever it is?"

Kakashi answered directly.

"To stop the destruction of our own universe."

This made Tony and Banner's enthusiasm die. Their excited faces fell. The joy disappeared. They looked worried now.

"What do you mean?" Tony asked.

Kakashi explained.

"There is something called an Incursion that is going to happen because someone is trying to break the barriers between realities on the other side."

Tony leaned forward. "And we are going to stop whoever these people are by going to the other universe?"

Kakashi nodded.

"Were you the one to discover this?" Bruce asked.

"No," Kakashi replied. "Someone well versed in magic noticed this and informed me."

Tony expression changed at that. Magic was something Tony had always mocked. Now he had to accept it was real. He looked like someone had just told him gravity was optional.

Tony's mouth opened wide. "Magic is real?!!" he shouted in shock.
