"Here, please take this…"
Zani's mother knelt before Sylus, offering him a drink with a transparent glass cup.
"Thank you."
Sylus gracefully accepted her kindness.
The glass was chipped at the side, but Sylus didn't mind. He made sure to drink the whole thing right in front of her.
Zani, on the other hand, stood at the side of the room, observing the whole thing.
Was she a tad bit embarrassed? Possibly, but she made sure to avert her attention as much as she could, just so she could at least bear the pain of watching them both converse.
Once Sylus was done with the drink, he placed the cup on the center table and focused his gaze on Zani's mother, who was now standing.
Looking at her, Sylus could tell she was nervous.
He also understood why that was.
"I'm grateful you trusted your daughter to me. I would have come to visit you more often, but Zani rarely ever wants me to do that."
