Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Previous Life

That was when Gu Yi first learned that there was a military doctor in Ye Hao's unit named Yang Lin.

Once, when Ye Hao was returning home to visit his family, she said she had a relative in the city nearby, so she traveled with Ye Hao to R City.

On the third day of Ye Hao's return home, she also arrived at Ye Hao's house under the pretense of visiting a comrade.

During a chat with her, Ye's mother learned that she was from B City and guessed that her family conditions were quite good.

After Yang Lin left, Ye's mother and Ye Fu were worried that if Ye Hao ended up with her, he would come home even less often.

So they discussed quickly arranging a marriage for Ye Hao at home, preferably to get married soon.

After Ye Hao returned to his unit, they immediately sought out Matchmaker Zhang from the neighboring village, who often arranged marriages for people.

Upon hearing the news, Gu's mother took two pounds of candy to Matchmaker Zhang's house that very evening.

The next day, Matchmaker Zhang arrived at Ye Hao's house early.

"Sister-in-law Zhang, why did you come so early? Come in and sit down."

"Of course, it's because I have good news that I'm here," she said as she entered the room with Ye's mother.

"The woodworker Gu from our village has taken a liking to your family's Ye Hao. His daughter is 18 this year, very skilled both inside and outside the house, and has attended middle school. She has good character, and her parents are good people. She has two older brothers who have learned their father's trade and are already settled..."

From the moment she sat down, Matchmaker Zhang didn't stop boasting and made Gu Yi sound like she was unparalleled both in heaven and on earth.

She concluded, "Of course, they are well-off, and the food is good though the young girl is a bit chubby; that's a sign of good fortune, right."

Ye's mother also knew Woodworker Gu; he had a good character, and she was very optimistic about this match.

After seeing Matchmaker Zhang off, Ye's mother hurried to discuss the matter with Ye Fu, and both of them had no objections to the match.

The two families planned to settle the matter between the two kids as soon as Ye Hao returned.

Worried that delaying might lead to complications, Ye's mother fabricated an illness to trick Ye Hao into coming back home.

Ye's mother cried and created a scene to pressure Ye Hao into having the banquet. Since it was a temporary leave, he had to return to the unit the day after the wedding, and the two only shared a bed for one night.

The two maintained a respectful distance until Gu Yi heard what Ye Qian had to say and realized it wasn't her inadequacies but that someone else already occupied Ye Hao's heart.

After that, Gu Yi became apathetic towards Ye Hao. Anyway, she was lazy; he hadn't mentioned divorce, so she just pretended not to know. After all, living with anyone is just living, and she didn't want to be separated from her daughter. Ye Hao spent most of his time at the unit, and she was comfortable at home.

Once Gu Yi let go of her concerns, she lived more freely.

Since she particularly enjoyed eating, she often experimented with making food at home. Maybe she really had a talent for it, as the results were quite tasty, and her daughter always gave her a thumbs-up.

To lose weight, she even took up yoga and later consulted traditional medicine because she had a cold constitution, which is why she gained weight, and she drank some herbal medicine for a while.

Life continued uneventfully.

After her daughter got married, Gu Yi delivered some homemade snacks to her, and on the way back, she was hit by a car.

In the instant of being struck and thrown, many scenes flashed through Gu Yi's mind.

Her last thought was what expression Ye Hao would have upon learning of her death.
