JAYDEN
I scoffed, my eyes shining in blatant irritation at the game he was trying to play. "We both know that, that's not the only reason why you want her here Liam. It's because you want to succeed the throne after our father."
"And what's so wrong with that?" He countered. His voice taking a lower note. "Sophia is our mate and if one of us should claim her then why can't it be me? It's not like I'm doing anything wrong. We all know that I'm fit to rule this pack. It is my birthright."
"Anyone is fit to rule this pack Liam." I said to him with a straight face. "Noah and i are equally princes and we are our father's children so we also have a right and claim to the throne if we want it. We might even do a better Job as king than you ever would."
"So, how about we make this a little interesting?" Noah spoke up and rose to his feet. His face beaming with a smile as he grinned from ear to ear. "We clearly cannot fight amongst ourselves for who is more deserving of the throne so why don't we place a bet?"
"What kind of bet?" Liam asked, indulging Noah.
"Whoever marks her first between the three of us gets to be the true Alpha king after our father and the rest of us, his subordinates." Noah shrugged with an unbothered look on his face.
I know that the throne was the least of his worries but his brother fighting between themselves for a woman, now that was something that he couldn't afford to miss out on in this lifetime of his.
It'll be interesting for him, watching us go neck to neck with each other to emerge victorious and that's why he instigated it. The goddess has mated them to one woman so why not make the best out of it?
"I'm not interested in fighting over a woman whom i barely know all because of a stupid prophecy and a silly title. If you both want the throne so bad then you can have it." I spat out in rage and turned to go but Liam's next words stopped me.
"Are you sure that you're not interested or are you only saying that because you're too scared of loosing to me."
I turned to face him slowly with a deep frown on his face, daring him to repeat what he had just said.
"I've never been scared to go on a fight with you Liam. Be it a wolf fight, sword fight or hand to hand combat and you know it too. I only gave you a free pass to what you wanted but if that's how you want to play this twisted game then fine, be my guest." I agreed and walked up to him.
"And to make it fair, I won't only mark her but I'll make sure to get intimate with her then I'll kill her and offer her lifeless body on a silver platter to you as a trophy for winning the bet. And don't forget that you asked for this Liam and not me." I added and barged out of the room in anger.
The maids that walked past me bowed their heads as I made my way back to my mother's room but I ignored all their greetings. Just what on earth do they take him for? I'd make sure to show Liam what I'm capable of. After all, he had challenged me first and I would make him eat his words when I am done with him. That's a promise.
The next morning, at the first break of dawn after getting ourselves ready, we all set out into the woods as we made our way back to the cabin where we held her captive.
We arrived to find the door broken beyond repair and empty. Noah did a thorough search of the area but couldn't find a single trail of her or anything that would point to her escape. As if to make matters worse, the rain had washed off all trails of her so we couldn't find any scent of her as well.
"I'm guessing that she ran away last night after we left." Noah crouched to the ground to touch the soil with his hands. "There's no footprint of her anywhere and my wolf can't pick up a single trail."
"What if she's in some kind of danger? What if she was abducted after we left?" Liam asked no one in particular.
"You give that stranger so much credit dear brother. I told you she was a spy." I yelled at them furiously, directing my anger to Liam in particular. "We had a shot at killing her last night but you wouldn't let me do it. Now she's gone back to her pack and who knows what they might be planning next!"
The food that Liam had left for her was untouched. How was she able to untie herself? And did she really run away under that heavy downpour last night? I could tell that Liam was worried about her but I couldn't care less.
"It's no one's fault Jayden." Noah came to Liam's defense. "No one would've thought that she would escape last night. She's quite efficient."
"I thought of it cause I knew that she would escape. Her stupid sob story about not remembering anything was just as stupid as the people who fell for it." I shamed them. "You let a pervert escape and for all we know, she could be an assassin who has gone back to regroup with her clan."
"And whose fault is it that she chose to run away from here?" Liam attacked me. "You were the one who kept on threatening to kill her so could you blame the poor girl for running away?"
"Well she had better not set her foot back into this pack again because if i ever set my eyes on her for the second time, then she'll be as good as dead!" I deadpanned, leaving the others speechless and at a loss for words.
