Sophie hung up the phone and turned around, just in time to see Charles putting away his phone. She asked attentively, "Is it work? Are you unable to schedule it tomorrow? I can change the time on my end."
"No." Charles replied without any sign of blush or breathlessness, as if someone else was the one texting just now, "I was checking the time."
"It's getting late, finish your milk and rest early." Charles handed the milk to Sophie.
"Okay." Sophie naturally wouldn't doubt him and quickly finished drinking. Afterward, Charles took the cup and gently pecked her on the lips before leaving.
Sophie had long been accustomed to Charles giving her goodnight and good morning kisses, but why did something that should increase intimacy make her feel more distant from him?
It would be better to hold hands, making her blush and her heart race.
