Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Corn and Pork Rib Soup

Su Xingwan rushed them to the hospital overnight.

After the doctor checked the two little ones, he couldn't help but say, "How are you taking care of the children as a mother? Both of them have a fever, and you only brought them to the hospital now."

Su Xingwan quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, doctor. I just started taking care of the kids and don't have much experience."

Hearing her words, the doctor raised his eyebrows.

"Just started taking care of the kids? Who took care of them before? Your mom or your mother-in-law?"

After saying this, she looked behind her, "Where is the father of the children? How irresponsible, not even coming to the hospital when the children have a fever and cold."

The doctor had been working here for more than ten years, and it was common for single mothers to bring their children to the hospital like this. Their husbands seemed as if they had vanished, nowhere to be seen.

Although she was used to it, she still couldn't help but nag every time she encountered such a situation.

A colleague next to her tugged her, "Doctor Liu, just mind your own business. This is their family matter, why worry as a doctor."

The doctor heard this, her reason returned a little.

"Alright, alright, at least you found out in time. The children were brought here early, go and pay the bills."

Su Xingwan quickly said, "Thank you, doctor."

In another ward, a young handsome, indifferent man was lying down.

At this moment, a middle-aged man in a suit stood by his bed, holding a thermos.

"Mr. Lu, the old lady specially cooked millet porridge for you, have a few sips."

Xu Xiao opened the thermos, and instantly a sweet and fragrant hot steam hit the nose.

Lu Yun glanced at it, "This again?"

Xu Xiao: "Mr. Lu, don't you love the millet porridge cooked by the old lady?"

Lu Yun: "Tired of it."

Xu Xiao laughed, "Mr. Lu, you really resemble the young master in this way," also fond of throwing childish tantrums.

Lu Yun snorted coldly, "Who resembles him?"

Xu Xiao laughed without speaking.

"Mr. Lu, this time the old lady specifically instructed that for the sake of your health, no more working on company matters. You must stay in the hospital for a few more days and only be discharged when your body has fully recovered."

"Got it," he sounded a bit impatient.

Su Xingwan ran around for the two little ones, almost busy the whole night.

Late at night.

Su Xingwan sat by their bedside, watching over the two without budging an inch. She yawned, looking worn out.

Little Su Luo lay peacefully asleep on the bed.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for binding with the villain system!]

As dawn broke, Little Su Luo groggily opened his eyes, vaguely seeing the aunt sleeping by the bedside, and soon fell back asleep.

In the morning, Su Xingwan, who had been leaning by the two little ones' bedside, gradually woke up.

She reached out to touch their foreheads; the fever had gone down.

She happily went to call the doctor.

The doctor said, "Well, although the fever has subsided, I suggest you let them stay in the hospital for observation a little longer. Children's health issues must not be taken lightly, and as their guardian, you need to endure more."

"Alright, doctor."

After Su Xingwan explained, "Doctor, you misunderstood. I'm not their mother, I'm their aunt, their mother has passed away."

Upon hearing this, the doctor paused.

Feeling a hint of embarrassment for her earlier comments.

Seizing the moment when the two little ones hadn't awakened, Su Xingwan went home in advance to make noodles for them and brought it back.

When they woke up, they could have hot noodles to eat.

At the hospital, Su Xingwan wanted to use the restroom, so she put the thermos down beside the sink and went in.

In the men's restroom, Xu Xiao came out; after washing his hands, he casually took the thermos placed beside the sink.

In the ward.

Lu Yun saw Xu Xiao come in, staring at the thermos he was holding, "The old lady wouldn't happen to have made millet porridge again, right?"

Just because a few months ago, he drank two extra bowls of the old lady's milled porridge when he returned to the family house, now she brings millet porridge to him every time.

Xu Xiao smiled and said, "I informed the old lady that you're not feeling well in the hospital and want to eat something else, so she simmered some corn rib soup for you."

Lu Yun: "That's more like it."

Xu Xiao stepped forward and opened the thermos, his gaze suddenly froze.

Seeing this, Lu Yun said, "What's wrong?"

Xu Xiao puzzled, "Mr. Lu, it seems the old lady prepared noodles for you."

Lu Yun: "Noodles?"

Xu Xiao poured some noodles from the thermos into a bowl and handed it to Lu Yun.

Lu Yun took the bowl, looked down, and took a sip of the noodle soup, his expression complex.

The taste was ordinary, not even salty, with a layer of egg foam floating on top. Smelling it, it was slightly fishy.

Lu Yun was skeptical, "Are you certain the old lady made this?"

Xu Xiao was also uncertain, "Yes...probably?"

"Mr. Lu, is it hard to eat?"

"You'll know if you take a bite yourself."

At these words, Xu Xiao took a sip of the noodles from the thermos, his expression mirroring Mr. Lu's earlier one.

How to say it, it wasn't exactly inedible, but couldn't be called delicious either, like something an amateur cook might barely manage to make.

Xu Xiao thought this as he looked up and saw Mr. Lu had eaten all the noodles in front of him.

He felt surprised, "Mr. Lu, why did you...?"

Wasn't it hard to eat???

Lu Yun said lightly, "Oh, I hadn't eaten something so unpalatable in a long time, savoring the experience."

Xu Xiao: "..."

Such a unique Mr. Lu.

Coming out from the restroom, Su Xingwan carried the thermos back into the ward of the two little ones and saw they were already awake.

Their big eyes lit up as they saw her come in.

"Auntie!"

Su Xingwan smiled, "Awake, are you hungry?"

The two little ones nodded.

Su Xingwan lifted the thermos in her hand, "Let's see what Auntie brought for you?"

As she spoke, she opened the thermos in her hand, and instantly a fragrant heat wafted out.

"Wow! It smells so good!"

The two little ones couldn't help but swallow, their little heads craning to see what delicious food Auntie had prepared for them.

After all, these days, they'd only eaten the noodles Auntie made; they hadn't tasted anything else Auntie cooked yet.

Su Xingwan stared at the corn rib soup in the thermos, stunned.

!!!

Where are my noodles? How did they turn into corn rib soup?

But, to be fair, the corn rib soup smells so enticing she couldn't help but want to drool.

Seeing Auntie not giving them food yet, the two little ones stared at her eagerly with their eyes.

"Auntie, aren't you going to start eating?"

Su Xingwan awkwardly said, "Babies, Auntie seems to have taken someone else's thermos by mistake, please wait a bit, I'll go switch it back."

Saying this, she ignored the two little ones who were already craving the food, and quickly exited the ward.

She returned to the restroom, stood at the doorway waiting left and right but didn't see anyone with the same thermos come over.

Su Xingwan felt puzzled, hasn't the person noticed their food was swapped yet?
