Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Murphy Continent, Cultivating the Meditation Technique

"Fire and Earth Faction..."

Mala frowned slightly, "This composite faction is quite niche, and training in a composite faction is much more complex than a single faction. Are you sure you want to choose it?"

In his view, the Multi-Element Faction is not stable enough; most of its traditions are incomplete, so its strength is of no use.

Might as well specialize in one faction, where the tradition is complete and the future path won't be blocked.

"I'm sure." Lor nodded firmly, as a Spatial Mage, he must change professions.

With so many dangers in the future, survival is the most important thing.

Even the opening of the Age of Planes was facilitated by the Spatial Mages meddling around.

"Alright, let me find a Meditation Technique for you." Mala did not persuade further and turned to start flipping through the bookshelf.

After all, he only gave Lor some extra pointers because he found him likable.

As for whether Lor listened, he didn't really care.

"Hmm, found it."

Mala pulled a leather scroll from the bookshelf, dusted it off, and handed it to Lor, "Here you go, the Fire and Earth Meditation Technique you wanted."

"Thank you, Wizard Mala." Lor received the Meditation Technique and hurriedly expressed his gratitude.

"Mm." Mala nodded, "If you want to find a mentor for the Fire and Earth Faction, there's only one Wizard Tower on the Murphy Continent that has one. I'll send you there directly."

"Mur... Murphy Continent?" The smile on Lor's face suddenly froze.

If he remembered correctly, the continent destroyed by the Faith Wizards ten years later seemed to be this one.

"Yes." Mala looked at Lor with some confusion, "What's wrong?"

Even if he didn't know continents had names before, or that there were other continents, he shouldn't be so surprised.

"No, nothing."

Lor shook his head and forced a smile, "It's just that I've been exposed to a lot of new things today, and I'm not really used to it."

"Alright then."

Mala said while walking out of the library, "Follow me, I'll take you to your cabin."

"For the next twenty days, you'll stay there. Meals downstairs in the hall are self-service and available anytime."

"Okay." Lor replied absentmindedly.

After following Mala through a few turns, the two arrived at a cabin with the number 5 on the door.

"This is your cabin; I'll notify you when it's time to disembark from the spaceship." Mala tossed a key to Lor and then walked away.

"Click—"

Lor opened the cabin door and went inside, looking around.

The room was small, about seven square meters.

Inside was a bed, a table, a chair, with a mechanical clock hanging above the table and an Elemental Lamp embedded in the ceiling, it looked very simple.

But considering it's on a spaceship, the single room treatment was already quite good.

"I need to traverse the continent within ten years. Apart from getting in touch with a Third Ring Wizard to take me to other continents, I can only become a Second Ring Wizard and save up enough Magic Crystals to buy a Flying Ship to make it happen, right?"

Lor plopped down on the bed, rubbed his temples, only feeling a headache.

Getting in touch with a Third Ring Wizard is very difficult.

And wanting someone to spend half a year or even a year taking him to other continents is even harder to achieve.

As for saving up Magic Crystals to buy a spaceship and advancing to a Second Ring Wizard, it's not much easier than the first option.

The panel points, the consumption grows more significant as time goes on.

In previous generations, those players spent hundreds of years in the game, relying on the Power of Faith to exceed only a few Sixth Ring Faith Wizards.

As for other factions, the highest was only Fourth Ring.

"No matter which way, it's challenging." Lor sighed, "I better plan after reaching the Wizard Tower first."

Having made up his mind, he no longer bothered and instead picked up the Fire and Earth Meditation Technique to study it carefully.

Upon reaching the end, he discovered three witchcraft model sketches were reserved within it.

These three witchcraft models correspond to Fireball, Rock Wall, and Flame Wall.

They come as basic gifts with acquiring the Meditation Technique.

"The difference between Elemental Meditation Techniques and Bloodline Faction is quite significant."

After observing for a while, Lor was somewhat astonished, "Even though the Wizard Civilization was already flourishing to that extent in the past life, it seems the Bloodline Meditation Technique wasn't as precise as the current Elemental Faction."

Although players mainly rely on points, and once they obtain a Meditation Technique, they couldn't even open it or read it; they could only slap it on their forehead.

Through experiencing the operating mode of Bloodline Meditation Techniques, Lor could still notice the differences between the two.

"The Bloodline Meditation Techniques focus mainly on the body, emphasizing efficiency and the degree of Magic Power transformation, constructing various Magic Patterns inside to accommodate various bloodlines."

Lor pondered, "While Elemental Meditation Techniques focus on the Sea of Consciousness, using Natural Runes to expand its breadth to accommodate more spell models."

"Now that I can open the Elemental Meditation Technique, I better try entering it myself so that besides relying on points, I can cultivate independently, offering multiple choices and paths."

"As for charge points, I'll add them after attempting an entry myself."

Having read the entire Fire and Earth Meditation Technique thoroughly, Lor slowly closed his eyes, focusing all his consciousness in his mind, beginning to sketch a highly complex three-dimensional rune model.

On the first attempt, he completed only ten percent before slightly misdrawing a bit later.

"Boom—"

The suddenly collapsed rune comprised merely one hundred and twenty strokes reverberated loudly in Lor's Sea of Consciousness.

"Hmm, failing once just makes my head a bit dizzy, but it's not a big deal."

Lor rubbed his slightly dizzy head, clearly sensing the Sea of Consciousness recovering its clarity on its own.

This is one of the advantages of high-level Meditation Talent—the recovery remains unaffected even after failing Meditation Technique practice, returning clarity after a while.

While a failure with one to two levels of Meditation Talent may leave one disoriented for a day or bedridden for two days at worst.

The more failures there are, the more severe the consequences become. Without the potion, each attempt is practically gambling one's life.

Even entering proves so arduous; needless to say, the future.

"Phew—"

After about ten minutes, his Sea of Consciousness fully restored clarity, though Lor still felt somewhat regretful.

If his Meditation Talent reached level six, he wouldn't even have this dizziness.

He closed his eyes again, continuing to delineate runes in the Sea of Consciousness.

This time, he became much more cautious, taking essentially ten seconds to sketch a stroke.

Soon, the progress exceeded the first attempt by one percent and continued climbing.

Twenty percent...

Thirty percent...

"Boom—"

A louder rumble exploded in Lor's Sea of Consciousness.

He slowly opened his eyes, just seeing afterimages in front of him.

"That stroke still lacked precision; not having the Sea of Consciousness Microscope Witchcraft model is certainly troublesome."

Lor rubbed his ears, attempting to alleviate the lingering buzzing noise following the explosion in his Sea of Consciousness.

Half an hour later, sensing his Sea of Consciousness clear once more, Lor resumed rune sketching.

With the lessons from the first two attempts, Lor felt significantly more skilled this time.

Instead of before, when a stroke transpired only every ten seconds,

Now, at most, five seconds pass before daring to sketch the next line.

The progress steadily climbed, soon surpassing the last time's thirty percent, forging ahead to forty percent.

Fifty percent...

Seventy percent...

"Click—Click—"

Suddenly, after Lor set down a stroke, the three-dimensional rune model in his Sea of Consciousness showed slight cracks.

Interestingly, since there was already the embryonic form of a complete rune, a mistake in this stroke did not cause the rune to collapse.
