Chapter 343 - Spill

Lor set the empty water glass down on the table and stood.

"Thanks for the water," he said. "And for telling what happened with Ameth. That was useful. And I'm glad I didn't kill you in the forest today."

He turned toward the door as if the conversation had already ended.

Kuri's hand moved before the thought finished forming. She grabbed the half-full glass of dark juice and flung it at his back with real force. The glass left her fingers hard enough that the liquid inside surged forward in a sharp wave.

Lor turned just enough. His hand came up and caught it cleanly in mid-air. The juice rose hard toward the rim, about to spill over, then reversed direction as a thin thread of mana flickered across his fingers. The liquid settled back into the glass as if it had never moved.

He looked at the glass in his hand, then at her.

Kuri's eyes widened.

"Don't you dare—"

He flicked his wrist. The glass shot back at her in a short, sharp arc.
