"Yes, you are the fifth family now, and not a single one has lasted more than half a year!" The lady, afraid she wouldn't believe, added, "Do you think this independent courtyard is easy to buy? Let me tell you, everyone living here has connections. Go and see three streets over; basically, five or six families are crammed into one courtyard!"
"You're from out of town, you don't know. Walk around a bit, there are only a few independent courtyards in the entire Beijing, and it's not like those with money can't buy them. It's just that without connections, you can't buy them. Your family managed to buy this house, so haven't you wondered why?"
The lady implied that these outsiders had no connections, as few outsiders were in Beijing now.
