As night fell, a group of winged youths gathered in threes and fives, patrolling a base built from stacks of cargo boxes on the ridge full of withered trees, where tens of thousands of square meters of blood essence rice was planted.
Inside one of the cargo boxes, five middle-aged men and women wearing captain armbands of the White Feather Gang sat together, eating rice cooked from blood essence rice and savoring wild beast meat, making the patrolling members outside salivate.
Blood essence rice was a luxury food enjoyed by only a few in Chasing Light City. While wild beast meat was far less energetic than monster meat, it was much tastier and more sophisticated than the synthetic foods eaten daily in Chasing Light City.
