Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Speculation

"You don't want to admit it? Then let me guess what gives you the confidence to kill the World-Defying Secret Spirit." Chen Guan continued without giving Wang Lian a chance to speak, his gaze falling on the Seven Treasure Glaze Tree in the pool.

"I remember hearing you say that you were the first to recognize the Seven Treasure Glaze Fruit, right? That means whether it's really the Seven Treasure Glaze Fruit, others aren't truly sure, at least not completely." Chen Guan said, looking at Gongsun Zhuo: "Have you seen the Seven Treasure Glaze Fruit? Can you confirm that's really the Seven Treasure Glaze Fruit?"

"No, the school didn't teach this knowledge, and I haven't heard of such a miraculous fruit." Gongsun Zhuo shook his head and said.

Wang Lian opened her mouth to say something, but Chen Guan interrupted: "Don't rush to defend yourself; you don't need to. Even if its name is truly Seven Treasure Glaze Fruit, its effects surely won't be just increasing wisdom as you claim. You're too anxious; you're too eager to get it."

"It's hilarious how you keep talking to yourself like this." Wang Lian sneered.

Unfazed by her sarcasm, Chen Guan continued: "But it's not surprising, as you have few cards to play. The Seven Treasure Glaze Fruit is your only lifeline in this situation, so you're forced to take risks, hoping we'd pick the fruit for you."

"No need to deny it; maybe your family is powerful, but your status within it is probably awkward. I believe it's true that the elder you mentioned discovered 'A Fang Sutra.' But in your family, there might be no one believing it, or no one knowing. Even you probably were half-skeptical before coming here, forced by your precarious status to gamble here."

Wang Lian had stopped talking, but her eyes betrayed her. Chen Guan's words clearly made her uneasy, even questioning if he had known her background all along.

"You couldn't secure your family's support, otherwise why would you be so unprepared, even needing to use Qin Ziyu whom you met by chance? These are unstable factors; you can't rely on them regardless. Even if you knew Qin Ziyu would come here, you couldn't be sure he'd teleport close to you. So, even without Qin Ziyu, you surely have a way to get what you want here."

Chen Guan glanced at the Water Burial Buddha, engaged in a fierce fight, yet still holding the advantage against both Qin Ziyu and the rouge.

"But with your power, it's impossible to defeat the Water Burial Buddha. Taking the Seven Treasure Glaze Fruit as leverage to defeat the World-Defying Secret Spirit is unrealistic, let alone taking anything from the Water Burial Buddha for future battles. Your reliance can only come from something you have, which can benefit you from the Water Burial Buddha."

"If I had such a thing, would I be in this predicament?" Wang Lian scoffed dismissively.

Chen Guan looked at Wang Lian, trying to appear calm but unable to hide her inner turmoil, and said softly: "Indeed, you're in this predicament without using your reliance, leaving only two possibilities: one is that your reliance is specific and can't be used on others, or it has usage constraints, possibly one-time use. You're reluctant to give up this only chance, hence you didn't want to use it. I lean towards the latter."

"What use is it if you're dead? Do you really think I'd treasure it more than my life, preferring to fall to this extent without using it? Perhaps you've overestimated me." Wang Lian mocked.

"You're not that kind of person, so the only possibility is that when you wanted to use it, you were unable to." Chen Guan looked at the Miaoshu Sword in his hand and continued: "The only thing meeting these conditions is this Miaoshu Sword. You didn't expect I'd have a pet like Rouge Rabbit, nor did you expect the Miaoshu Sword to slip from your grasp, so what you rely on must be in this Miaoshu Sword."

Wang Lian tried hard to control her emotions and expression but couldn't fully conceal them. Her eyes showed intense fear and unease, looking at Chen Guan as if he were a Devil.

She said nothing, yet Chen Guan seemed to know everything from her.

"Tell me how to get out what you depend on; I can spare your life." Chen Guan looked at Wang Lian.

He had already studied the Miaoshu Sword but hadn't found a mechanism to hide things. He didn't have time to explore slowly, so he hoped to directly get the answer from Wang Lian.

Chen Guan didn't doubt his judgment; the thing must be inside the Miaoshu Sword.

"It's you talking to yourself, thinking there's something in the Miaoshu Sword. There isn't, so how would I know how to get it out?" Wang Lian refused to believe Chen Guan's words, and since the thing was her only hope, how could she easily abandon it?

Indeed, as Chen Guan said, she took the risk to come here because this was her only chance to change her destiny. She wouldn't give up easily and let the rest of her life fade into obscurity.

"Seems your memory isn't good. I may not know the Bone-Breaking Hand, but my methods of torture certainly aren't inferior to Qin Ziyu's." Chen Guan said as he walked directly to Wang Lian.

Wang Lian shivered, but still shut her mouth, saying nothing.

But her closed mouth soon opened, letting out inhuman screams.

In the next two minutes, Gongsun Zhuo felt his worldview shattered; he had never thought someone could be so ruthless.

Previously, he believed the greatest human fear was death, and killing was just putting heads to the ground.

But today, he realized humans could have so many terrifying methods of torture, and compared to what Chen Guan used, death was nothing.

Watching from the sidelines, Gongsun Zhuo felt chills down his spine, sweating profusely, with his fingers involuntarily trembling.

Only now did he understand why people punished under torture would confess even if innocent.

Earlier, he thought such people lacked courage, believing one's head could be cut, and blood could flow, but never admitting something untrue, even if it meant death.

But now he suddenly understood why they confessed; it was beyond human endurance. If it were him, he might not last longer than Wang Lian.

In merely two minutes, Wang Lian collapsed, revealing the answer Chen Guan wanted to know.
