Chapter 14 - Chapter 12: Hero and the New Hero

Hero A·Gedora!

Just thinking of this name makes the new hero "Frodonick" feel his blood swelling, his heart pounding extremely intensely.

How dazzling that name was when the Demon King turned the world pitch-black; he was humanity's only ray of light. He once yearned for A·Gedora so intensely, admired him, prayed for him, longed for him… and... envied him!

He once defeated A·Gedora!

In the battle, he severed the tendon of his right hand!

This was an achievement even the Demon King couldn't accomplish! He had surpassed everyone...

There should have been praise, someone shouting for him — these were all things that should have been, his excitement, happiness, only lasted for a brief one or two years.

Because he knew better than anyone the falsity of that victory, any kind of "higher-ups" were like that.

The world knew that if it weren't for the hero being deceived by Saintess Charlette, losing the Hero's Sword and Hero's Armor, if it wasn't for that mage opening the door for the escaping remnants of the Demon Race, causing them to appear, and A·Gedora exhausting his energy on a mission against them, if it weren't for the deceiver tricking him into drinking a potion with a curse, if it weren't for the alchemist shackling him...

Frodonick couldn't have defeated the hero.

Rather… even so, the hero still escaped from his hands; perhaps, at that time, A·Gedora wasn't truly unbeatable, just felt disheartened and didn't want to resist anymore.

He actually heard some things about A·Gedora; sometimes this hero would be recognized in certain places in the world. He knew A·Gedora lived a decadent life, drinking to drown his sorrows — which was great! Over the years, he had never slackened in effort and training, thinking about the fact that the hero was still alive pained him.

But he couldn't go on a crusade because "a hero" shouldn't counteract a "former hero," even if this former hero had done many "disappointing" things.

But now it's different, A·Gedora has colluded with the Vampire Queen, allowing the Demon King to retrieve his left hand, which has become a fact. He didn't know what the hero wanted to do, but he had never been so excited… he recognized his own ugly feelings, that embodiment of honesty and kindness, ultimately did something ugly.

The shattering of that person's "golden body" is what excites Frodonick the most.

He is not the perfect person imagined in his mind; he would do such despicable things, so fundamentally he was a despicable person, just hidden too well in the past, so what I did was not wrong. If someone so dark and sordid continues to bask in sunlight, it will sooner or later bring disaster to the world!

Lucky that he used to feel somewhat guilty about what he did… but I did nothing wrong!

As long as he is killed, it can...

Now he definitely won't be my opponent.

...

In a remote valley away from Baixi Town, Doro and Lisidorwei stopped here, waiting for an enemy they "didn't know who" to come.

"Doro, who do you think will come?"

Doro spread his hands: "Hmm, I think Charlette won't come; she can be ruled out, maybe the rest... anyone is possible."

What reference value is this? Lisidorwei felt like saying she could make this judgment too, as the Saintess was guarding the Demon King's right hand. Given her cautious nature, since the left hand had already been stolen, it would be impossible for her to leave the right hand's suppression.

This is pure nonsense.

But because Doro said it, she remarked, "As expected of Lord Doro, Your judgment is perfectly reasonable!"

Doro was speechless for a moment: "You don't need to flatter me so much."

"You don't need to be humble; no matter when, you are always shining in my eyes."

Such blunt words made Doro somewhat unable to maintain his composure; he didn't know how to respond to the kindness of the woman in front of him.

Lisidorwei was by no means a good person; in the past, she "turned from darkness to light" to help them against the Demon King, but that doesn't mean the former hero A·Gedora showed any special favor towards Lisidorwei, as at that time, the hero knew deeply what excessive things this Vampire Queen had done to humanity over the years. He couldn't truly forgive her.

But this person was overly harsh to humanity, yet very fair to the hero, and to A·Gedora, counted as benevolence. The attack the Demon King launched at that time against him couldn't have been acting, and Lisidorwei still helped him block that attack; did she really know she had a high probability of dying?

Doro pushed all the thoughts from his mind out; recollecting the past had lost its meaning now, he wasn't even certain about the sincerity and falsity of the past. He couldn't grasp right and wrong now either.

He suddenly looked towards a certain spot.

"Is someone coming?"

Doro shook his head: "I just thought that flower over there looks pretty."

Lisidorwei looked at the flower and smiled: "That's the Flower of Bewilderment, a bloom personally cultivated by the Demon King, used in the war against humanity. A single flower doesn't pose a threat, but it's a great ornamental plant, and now there are wild varieties."

"Was she doing these things back then?"

Lisidorwei smiled: "No one knows precisely what the Demon King was thinking, always doing things suddenly that seemed strange. Using our thinking to speculate about the Demon King is truly a foolish thing to do."
