Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Zero-Frame Opener

Lin Chen also noticed and said:

"It's different. The place it's living is spotless, and it's older, is it the Ox King?"

"Haha." The saleswoman laughed and said, "It's not any Ox King, it's called Xiaobai."

"Xiaobai?!"

Lin Chen was taken aback. Most Plowhorn Beasts have dark skin, but this one is as black as coal. Whoever named it is a genius.

Is this an insult to the ox?

"It was supposed to be sent away six months ago, but the buyer didn't have a contract and it was returned," the saleswoman continued:

"It's called Xiaobai because it's a clean freak and has OCD."

"The reason its pen is so clean is not because of us, it cleaned it up itself."

Lin Chen was a bit stunned, this was indeed special.

Generally, cattle are carefree and untidy, but this ox actually has a cleanliness fetish?

Lin Chen got interested and asked, "Can I touch it?"

"Of course." The saleswoman nodded, eager to sell Xiaobai quickly as it was over 12 months old and had gained intelligence.

The older it gets, the harder it is to sell.

They approached Xiaobai, who immediately became alert, checking both their feet as if inspecting cleanliness.

"Xiaobai, this customer wants to touch you, is that okay?" The saleswoman smiled warmly.

"Moo~~"

The Plowhorn Beast mooed once and pointed its hoof at the water basin nearby.

"What does that mean?" Lin Chen asked.

"...It means you should wash your hands first," the saleswoman said awkwardly.

It was this requirement that previous visitors couldn't handle, leading to its return.

Lin Chen wasn't bothered and seriously washed his hands.

The Plowhorn Beast stared intently, and once it saw Lin Chen's hands were clean, it lowered its head, seeming to realize its request was unreasonable.

"Not a bad personality."

Lin Chen placed his hand over, and data immediately popped up:

[Plowhorn Beast]

[Low-level Mortal Beast]

[13 months]

[Dominant Bloodline: Plowhorn Beast (Ordinary) 44.44%, Burning Mountain Bull 8.88%, Earth-Sounding Ox 7.77%]

[Hidden Bloodline: 8.12%]

[Polluted Bloodline: 30.79%]

Lin Chen's pupils widened. The hidden bloodline is so high?

Indeed, there's a reason for its darkness.

But this cleanliness and OCD are definitely not good habits.

Lin Chen hesitated, the saleswoman noticed the change in his mood and immediately said:

"Xiaobai is very diligent and disciplined, not temperamental like other cattle, and works quickly, just that it needs a bath after each task."

"This doesn't affect its work, right?"

"Moo~~"

The Plowhorn Beast looked at Lin Chen, a bit watery-eyed, without much hope.

Because Lin Chen wasn't the only one who had looked at it; since being returned, over ten people had checked it out.

Every time, it ended in rejection.

Lin Chen met its gaze, pondered for half a minute, and finally nodded.

Good temperament, no bad temper.

Diligent.

A bit of OCD cleanliness, but acceptable.

"Well...." Lin Chen pulled the saleswoman aside and whispered, "Since it's in stock, can you give me a discount?"

The saleswoman feigned difficulty and quickly said, "Our shop doesn't haggle."

"Think about it. Every day it stays here, it eats at least five pounds of grass, and with how clean it washes, it must use a lot of water, costing at least three hundred dollars a day..." Lin Chen used numbers to persuade.

The saleswoman glanced back at Xiaobai, clearly tempted, but said, "Sir, we really can't lower the price."

"Then forget it." Lin Chen played his bargaining trump card, turning to leave.

Though the saleswoman knew this was a bargaining tactic, she didn't dare risk it and said, "Wait a moment, I'll go apply with the manager."

Lin Chen's lips twitched, thinking this is just like the car selling trick?

He bet the saleswoman would just take a stroll and come back saying the manager agreed to a discount.

Lin Chen turned his head to look at the Plowhorn Beast again, but found the beast was crouching cautiously on the ground.

He approached, thinking it was drinking water, only to find...

It was washing its head!

And it was precisely where Lin Chen had just touched.

"..."

....

"Moo moo~~"

The Plowhorn Beast seemed a bit embarrassed, as if explaining something, after being discovered by Lin Chen.

At this moment, the saleswoman jogged over, excitedly saying, "Sir, the manager agreed. Xiaobai's original price was 88,000, but they're offering you a 3,000 discount. How about it?"

"Still too little." Lin Chen's plan was to knock off 5,000.

The nearby Plowhorn Beast was a bit anxious upon hearing this, feeling it wasn't valued.

"Can't lower it anymore."

"Then throw in some Spirit Grass for me." Lin Chen suggested, "That'll definitely be profitable."

"That's doable." The saleswoman smiled.

Upon hearing this, Lin Chen stopped haggling, turned to the sullen beast, and asked, "Would you be willing to come with me?"

The saleswoman, a caring soul, displayed a sweet smile and said, "Xiaobai, seize this opportunity, but always follow your heart."

The Plowhorn Beast circled Lin Chen and finally sniffed his clothes with its nose.

Not the scent of riches, but clean and tidy.

The Plowhorn Beast was satisfied with Lin Chen; Niu Niu's requirements weren't high. It mooed once and nodded.

The saleswoman was overjoyed, finally getting rid of this hot potato.

After paying, the saleswoman considerately asked, "Would you like to contract now or take it home and contract later?"

"Now," Lin Chen said without hesitation.

He only had 100,000 on him, so after buying it, he wouldn't have much left, and couldn't exchange for another.

The saleswoman patiently explained the process, though Lin Chen already had a rough idea, clumsily entering meditation mode according to the instructions, soon seeing his Beast Taming Space...

At that moment, Lin Chen placed his hand on the Plowhorn Beast's head, feeling the blood flowing from his palm, as if being absorbed by the Plowhorn Beast.

In the next second, Lin Chen could see its form in the Beast Taming Space...

As it entered, several white light totems descended, enveloping its body.

Faced with the strange environment, the Plowhorn Beast shivered a bit, clearly frightened, after all, it was only a year old.

"Don't be afraid."

Lin Chen's gentle voice soothed it, allowing the Plowhorn Beast to relax a little.

Soon a white light formed a line, drifting from Lin Chen's Divine Sense to the Plowhorn Beast's head, a process lasting nearly 10 seconds until the beast's information appeared in Lin Chen's mind...

Thus, the contract was sealed.

Lin Chen didn't have time to check its status when he heard the saleswoman's voice:

"Congratulations, sir, you're officially a Beastmaster!"

"Spirit Beasts are humanity's closest companions, may it help your dreams take flight and wander the world."

"The Spirit Grass gift is ready for you, along with a maintenance manual for the Plowhorn Beast."

"Thank you." Lin Chen was quite satisfied with her attitude.

Unexpectedly, the saleswoman switched topics and said:

"Sir, maintaining a Plowhorn Beast isn't cheap. Have you considered animal maintenance loans? I can offer you a lower interest rate."

"...."

No way, sis, he didn't even bring up this topic...

Starting with zero frame advantage?!
