Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Encountering an Assassination

The driver on the seat grips the steering wheel with both hands, sweat running down his forehead; if not for Xiao Feng's warning, he would have been crushed into pulp.

However, there's one thing the driver couldn't understand: how did Xiao Feng know that the tree would fall?

Little did they know, Xiao Feng didn't see any signs of the tree collapsing with his eyes; however, having skirted the line of life and death many times, he's developed an instinctive intuition for danger, which has saved his life multiple times.

"What happened?" Han Lengyue asked Xiao Feng, feeling that this event was no coincidence.

Xiao Feng didn't answer, but opened the car door and quickly assessed the surroundings, his eyes sharp as a hawk, surveying everything.

Han Lengyue opened the door and got out of the car, instructing her people to move the tree; there was only this road leading to the city, and detouring around would be very far.

After organizing everything, she walked towards Xiao Feng, but before she could speak, Xiao Feng tackled her to the ground, and almost simultaneously, two bullets embedded themselves into the rear car window.

The subordinates, hearing Han Lengyue's scream, rushed over to check the situation, only to see Xiao Feng pressing Han Lengyue under him.

Han Lengyue was both angry and anxious, with so many people watching, she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.

"Get up!" Han Lengyue shouted in humiliation and anger.

Xiao Feng glanced down, only then realizing what had happened.

And Han Lengyue's fair cheeks instantly turned rosy under the pressure, unsure whether it was from embarrassment or anger, or perhaps a mix of both.

Just as Han Lengyue was about to lose her temper, Xiao Feng stood up nonchalantly, pointing at the rear window, saying, "The quality of this car isn't bad."

The subordinates looked in the direction Xiao Feng pointed, all couldn't help but widen their eyes, a chill running down their spines.

These people usually only use knives, having never experienced a gunfight before.

The butler also rushed over at this moment, and upon seeing the bullets on the car's window, his heart skipped a beat.

Previously, when Han Lengyue requested bulletproof glass be installed in all vehicles, he thought it was making a mountain out of a molehill, but now he dared not have such thoughts anymore.

Right then, a rustling sound emerged from the jungle, and through the gaps between the trees, two figures could be seen swiftly sprinting among them.

"Chase them!" Han Lengyue commanded coldly.

But before her subordinates could storm into the jungle, Xiao Feng, leaning against the car, suddenly said, "No need, they're too far; your men can't possibly catch up."

With these words, Han Lengyue's subordinates felt indignant; although they felt uneasy entering the jungle, knowing the other party had guns, it didn't mean they should be underestimated by Xiao Feng like this.

"Judging by your tone, could you catch up if it was you?" Someone asked defiantly.

Xiao Feng chuckled instantly, "If it was me, I wouldn't even bother chasing."

Black Tiger stepped forward at this moment and inquired, "Could you explain in detail?"

To a fan's request, Xiao Feng naturally wouldn't refuse; he struck the car window with a fist.

With a crack, the entire car window was pulled down, startling everyone; were his fists made of iron?

Unfazed by how they thought, Xiao Feng dismantled the two bullet heads and said, "These bullets are specialized for sniper rifles, and judging by the gun sound, it should be the suppressed Sako TRG42, which is light in weight and short in body, very suitable for sneak attacks and assassinations."

Everyone was dumbfounded by his explanation; at least the gun sound Xiao Feng mentioned, no one present had heard.

"They're gone now, isn't it easy for you to say whatever you want?" The previously defiant person said sarcastically, "If you have skills, then tell us where those two people are."

Xiao Feng laughed softly, "Who told you there are only two people?"

"Are there more?" Han Lengyue asked in shock.

"Typically, a sniper is paired with a spotter, in pairs, not far apart," Xiao Feng said to the defiant subordinate, "Deviation of forty degrees to the southeast direction, around seven hundred to seven hundred fifty meters, take your people over there and check it out, you might find something."

The subordinate looked to Han Lengyue to seek her opinion, and Han Lengyue nodded, believing in her heart that Xiao Feng was telling the truth.

Seven or eight men headed into the woods following Xiao Feng's indicated direction, leaving behind others who started speculating about what they might find.

Ten minutes later, the group returned one after another, and the leader's face was plainly grim.

"How's the situation?" Han Lengyue asked calmly.

"Miss, this is what we found around seven hundred twenty meters," the subordinate said while laying the found items on the ground.

Three cigarette butts and a military canteen.

Everyone gathered, critiquing in a huddle, "This canteen is quite new, and the water inside is still warm, indicating someone really was lurking there."

A subordinate who entered the woods said, "We also found some footprints over there, judging by the size, it indeed indicates two people no further than ten meters apart."

The scene fell into dead silence, everyone looking at Xiao Feng like they've seen a ghost, thinking, how magical is he to only hear a sound and infer so much!

Xiao Feng's expression was unperturbed, as though this was a routine matter for him, and he calmly evaluated, "This group was clearly unprofessional, not even knowing to clean traces, such an easy task."

The others exchanged glances but dared not question Xiao Feng's words anymore.

Of course, that's how he said it, but Xiao Feng understood this assassination wasn't a prolonged stealth mission, with instant actions leading to exposure, no need to clear any traces.

At this moment, having witnessed Xiao Feng's capabilities, Han Lengyue's heart was immensely conflicted.

On one hand, she felt ecstatic that the matter of her father's murder finally had hope for revenge; on the other, she felt polarized about Xiao Feng himself, feeling unlike the resolute myth of Yan Huang, he exuded a kind of nonchalant, irreverent vibe.

Yet, she didn't know why she felt this version of Xiao Feng was more genuine than her preconceived image, carrying a unique allure.

Leaving behind the crowd engaged in discussions, Xiao Feng walked to Han Lengyue, noticing her unspeakably grave expression, he smiled and said, "Relax, those two people were coming for me, the gunpoints were aimed at me, similar incidents won't happen to you."

"What about you then?" Han Lengyue asked softly, "This time you managed to dodge, what about next time?"

"Are you worried about me?" Xiao Feng laughed cheekily.

Han Lengyue replied coldly, "We're in this together now, I'm just worried you'll drag me down."

"No problem, if you're scared, you can always terminate the cooperation," Xiao Feng said nonchalantly.

Han Lengyue shook her head, stopped pursuing this matter, and asked, "Do you know who made the move?"

"Unexpectedly, it should be that Shen young man you mentioned," Xiao Feng chuckled wickedly, a fierce glow in his eyes, "Since he wants to play, I'll play along all the way!"

This speculation was not without foundation since just a moment ago, Xiao Feng recalled a sentence the woman said in the hotel, "If you survive three days, I'll come to find you; however, you're unlikely to live three days!"
