Angela woke up very early even though she had slept late last night. Her head throbbed as she sat up on the couch. It felt strange waking up in a different room instead of her own. Her eyes quickly moved to the bed, hoping to see Kaito there, but he wasn't.
The memories of last night came rushing back—how he had kicked her out. The thought alone made her chest tighten, and she wanted to cry, but she told herself it was too early to ruin her day.
Hiro was not in the room. He must have left very early. Angela reached for her phone to check her schedule and froze when she saw sixty-two missed calls from Renn.
Her heart skipped a beat. No one had ever called her that much before. It wasn't like she had been using a phone for long, but even she knew sixty calls was far too many.
Did he think she had gone missing? Or maybe Hiro had told him she spent the night here? No, Hiro wouldn't do that. If he had, Renn would already be here, dragging her away.
