As a member of the aristocracy, he was well aware of the deeds those born with so-called noble blood were capable of in this nearly solidified class world.
Harboring resentment, he embraced the enemy.
However, to his surprise, Valen denied his words.
"Perhaps that's part of the reason, but that's not the real main reason."
Valen's voice was low, narrating gently.
His eyes became slightly red.
"On that escape route, perhaps fate favored me, as I ultimately survived. An old man found me amidst a pile of rotting vagabonds and took me in. Although he later beat and scolded me, I am still very grateful to him because he gave me a way to live, taught me skills, allowed me to grow and find my place, and take charge of my future, no longer drifting aimlessly like when I was young."
