For them, as long as they can cultivate that familiar piece of land and have enough grain left for survival after paying a significant portion to the Lord, they are satisfied.
As to whether that piece of land belongs to a certain Duke today or a certain Count tomorrow, it doesn't concern them.
This is the general situation across the various countries on the Central Earth Continent.
