Jiang Yuxue's mouth twitched. Although her parents spoiled her immensely, they most likely wouldn't instantly believe anything she said.
"Mom, if you drip your blood on the ring… it will be yours," she said in a cautious tone. Her head throbbed.
Su Wenxin loved her flawless skin. That was why after she gave birth to Jiang Yuxue, she didn't want to have another child. To keep her figure to stay perfect.
A slight wound would make her distressed for days, afraid that it would leave a scar. In the apocalypse, it didn't take an expert to guess that she had suffered greatly. The beauty she was so proud of became the double-edged blade, sometimes an advantage, but most of the time it landed her in danger.
Thus, in the end, she resolutely destroyed her own face so that powerful ability users wouldn't be attracted to her. She stayed loyal to Jiang Feng until the end.
"Yu'er, don't play such a joke on your mom…" Su Wenxin muttered, her voice grew more displeased. Jiang Yuxue could almost imagine the deep frown and scowl that decorated her face at this moment.
"Can you believe me just this once, Mom? I can't tell you the reason right now, but believe me. It will be extremely helpful later," she muttered in exasperation.
Luckily, it seemed that Grandma hadn't told her parents she had a fever. Otherwise, Su Wenxin would definitely declare that she was still sick and completely brush off her words.
"It would destroy my skin…" Su Wenxin said quietly. Most likely, she was doing that while marvelling her fair and smooth hands.
Jiang Yuxue felt a headache coming. She had the urge to flip the table near her bed. It was easier to cross the ocean and move the mountains rather than convincing her mother.
Oh well, that was indeed an easy feat to do when she was an immortal fox spirit…
"What is it that you two are quarreling about?" Jiang Feng's words rang from the other side. A bit hoarse with a hint of tiredness and sleepiness.
Su Wenxin replied in complaint, "I don't know what she has been reading over there. Yu'er started believing that if you drip blood on jewelry, it will be a magical artefact or something."
Jiang Yuxue thought about it. She resisted the shame in her heart and then resolutely started sobbing, throwing a tantrum. "Fine, you two don't love me anymore!"
"Hu… my parents don't love me anymore. I am just an abandoned cabbage in the roadside stall…"
Damn, when she started cultivating immortality and finally caught up to her senior brothers and sisters' cultivation realm, she never thought that she would have this kind of day today.
"Yu'er," Jiang Feng hurriedly called out. "You just want me to drip blood on the ring, right? Your dad will do it."
Jiang Yuxue's sobbing stopped, and she asked in a doubtful tone. "Really?"
"Yes. How much blood do you need?" Jiang Feng asked. "I am doing it now…"
Wait, this script was somewhat familiar. She rolled her eyes. Was she a three-year-old kid that was easily fooled?
"Show me. Make a video call." Without waiting for him to respond, she switched it to video call.
Thus, she watched the entire process as Jiang Feng made a slight cut and dripped his blood on the ring. Faint spiritual energy enveloped him. The exhaustion and faint fatigue on his brows visibly lessened.
Su Wenxin, who had her arms crossed on her chest, gradually looked at her husband with doubt.
However, Jiang Yuxue almost couldn't hold back the gasp that nearly escaped her lips. Her eyes widened in a pleasant surprise. It was the most concentrated spiritual energy she had ever seen in a long time in this mortal world. Even Jiang Feng's wrinkly skin had turned more smooth, making him appear more youthful.
"You might be right, Yu'er. It's a magical ring." Jiang Feng took a deep breath. "I feel better now, no longer as sleepy and tired."
"It might be a mere psychological effect…" Su Wenxin muttered, but her tone got quieter at the end. She looked at her husband's complexion with doubt. After comparing it with her own skin, she looked satisfied when she found that hers was still better.
Jiang Yuxue regarded the ring thoughtfully. It didn't seem like an ordinary space ring…
She soon recovered her senses. Since she couldn't tell them about the apocalypse, she decided to play it as a joke. "It must have really been a magical ring, Dad! If the end of the world came, you might even find supplies inside, like those fiction stories. Try to do it."
With a giggle, her father soon followed. They conversed a bit more until she inadvertently saw someone standing there.
Her pupils dilated.
How long has Jiang Meiling been standing there?
She closed the phone and stiffly faced her eldest sister, wondering how much information she had heard from her conversation with their parents.
"How do you feel?" It was Jiang Meiling who spoke first, walking toward her.
"I feel better," Jiang Yuxue said quietly, still hadn't recovered from the surprise.
Jiang Meiling looked at her phone and then gazed through the window. Without warning, she left the room. When she came back, she brought a woman in a white doctor attire with her.
"Please, check my younger sister. She has woken up, but…" Jiang Meiling explained what had happened after Jiang Yuxue fell unconscious. The rising fever, and the allergy on her skin that gradually disappeared.
The doctor nodded and listened, taking a few notes. After she went to check Jiang Yuxue and prescribed some medicine, she left.
Jiang Meiling stared at her thoughtfully with her finger on her lip, making Jiang Yuxue feel very self-conscious. With annoyance, she turned her body to the side, showing her back to her eldest sister. "I am going to sleep. Don't stare at me!"
After two days, Jiang Yuxue felt more fresh than ever after she recovered. Her worries turned out to be a false alarm. She didn't turn into a zombie yet.
But… why did she have such a fever? Perhaps it was her ability unlocked again?
She tried to enter her inner space, but before she could, she heard a shout from Grandma.
"Yuxue, come here! Check what happened to Ling'er!"
