Chapter 1 - PART I – THE BEGINNING. CHAPTER 1 – PROLOGUE

In a world where technology and science had reached unprecedented heights, humanity was blindsided by an unexpected threat. Diseases began to spread at terrifying speeds, while the human immune system weakened like never before. Even modern antibiotics—once considered a reliable line of defense—began to lose their effectiveness, worsening the crisis.

In a desperate bid for a solution, scientists launched large-scale research focused on healing and enhancing the human body. Their efforts culminated in the creation of a drug known as Variogen-39. Initial tests on lab rats were promising: the animals showed signs of improved health—but soon, their behavior turned unnatural. The deaths of the test subjects left no clear trace... until one day, the drug was accidentally ingested by a human.

The subject was monitored closely for a month. At first, everything seemed normal—until one morning, shattered glass, pools of blood, and a black liquid were discovered. Panicked researchers searched for the test subject, but it was already too late. The virus had begun to spread with terrifying speed. Over 80% of the scientists were infected, and the situation spiraled out of control. Despite their brilliance, the researchers were no match for the consequences of their creation. They had underestimated the virus, which quickly tore through the labs, infecting staff and disabling all security systems.

The government failed to contain the catastrophe. Even the military, caught unprepared, collapsed under the pressure. Humanity began to fall, and the world descended into chaos.

Some time later, strange groups of people began to appear on the streets. They moved like drugged wanderers, their presence sending shivers down the spines of passersby. Their skin had taken on a bluish hue—like that of the drowned. These walking corpses started attacking civilians, biting them. Humanoid creatures—zombies—now roamed the cities.

The survivors banded together, seeking shelter, answers, and a way out of the madness.

Now, as the world sinks deeper into darkness, those who remain must unite to face a new evil that threatens their very existence. Amid the ruins of civilization, in a time of fear and ruin, survival depends on solidarity—and the will to fight back against the unknown horror.
