Chapter 41 - Her Weakness

Sebastian's POV

She was still asleep when I got out of the shower. Curled up in my bed, tangled in the sheets, face soft—peaceful for once. No nightmares. No shadows under her eyes. Just… calm.

I should've walked back out. Given her privacy. But the mirror was foggy and my wet hair was already making a mess, so I stayed. Towel slung low on my hips, I ran my hand through my hair and grabbed the one clean corner of the mirror.

Then I felt it.

Eyes on me.

My gaze slid to the reflection.

And there she was.

Wide awake. Frozen upright. And staring.

For a solid three seconds, she didn't blink. Her mouth was slightly open. Her hands clenched the blanket like it was the only thing stopping her from lunging forward.

And I'll be honest—I smirked. Couldn't help it.

Most people don't even look me in the eye. But her? She was looking like she'd seen divinity. Like I was something carved by God and dipped in sin.

So, naturally, I said the first thing that came to mind:

"Like what you see, Ray?"

Boom. Instant combustion.

She made this tiny, choked noise like someone had unplugged her brain, then violently yeeted herself back into the sheets like she was being attacked by the sight of me.

I turned to face her fully, towel still firmly in place, arms crossed over my chest.

She was still buried. "I—I wasn't—That's not—I was just—SEB STOP EXISTING FOR A SECOND, I CAN'T HANDLE THIS."

I laughed. Genuinely. Loud and deep.

Cute.

"Don't die on me now," I said, walking over, the floor cool beneath my feet. "You've seen men bleeding out, screaming in cages, but me in a towel makes you short-circuit?"

"I hate you," she groaned, still hidden. "I hope your abs fall off. Or get stolen."

"Well, that's a first," I muttered, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Didn't realize I had to wear a bulletproof vest to protect myself from you."

"Stop talking," she squeaked.

Then came the real chaos.

She bolted up suddenly like she was going to escape—but her hair caught on the corner of the headboard. She yelped, got tangled in the sheets, tripped over the edge, nearly died, and then landed face-first against my chest.

And of course.

My towel shifted.

Her eyes went round.

"OH MY GOD!" she screeched, diving back with her hands over her face. "I SWEAR I'M INNOCENT! I DIDN'T MEAN TO!"

"You're acting like I'm some kind of forbidden object," I said, biting back laughter. "I'm not going to bite."

"You already bit me emotionally," she muttered, breathless. "I'm going to combust."

"Careful," I said, getting up. "Don't want to give Kai a heart attack when he finds your charred body."

"Tell him I died doing what I love," she shouted from inside the sheets.

I paused in the doorway, half-laughing, towel still secure.

God help me, I thought.

She's going to ruin me.
