My chest tightened. "What do you mean?" I hissed, gritting my teeth as another wave of pain seared through me.
"This kind of creature usually only appears when someone summons it through a dark ritual," my wolf explained. She paused for a moment before her tone dropped into a grave whisper. "Evelyn, I think someone summoned this creature from hell, and its target is this settlement."
My wolf actually had a point.
From the very beginning, the hydra hadn't cared about anything else. Its movements, its rage, everything had been locked onto this place from the start, like it was following a mark it couldn't ignore.
"Evelyn!" Rael's voice cut through the roar of flames, overlapping with Theron's. "Are you alright?! I'll try to put out the fire!"
If the hydra really came from hell, then I doubted normal water could extinguish its flames. My own hands still hadn't healed from the burn, so it was clear this fire was anything but ordinary.
