Chapter 9 - DANGEROUS OPERATION

Alexander's POV

"I am going to get my wedding dress *weird emoji*".

I stared at the message and did not know when I had started to smile.

"Boss, are you listening, I said the operation in two famous countries in Africa turned out successful", Roderick repeated. I had put him in charge of most of the cocaine movements in Africa, and I was happy that most of his operations were successful. It made me the most powerful Mafia boss to ever exist. I operated world-wide. No continent was left untouched.

"Uhm yes, you were talking about the successful operations in Africa", I said. "I got a little distracted, you may continue."

Darn it! I was in the middle of an important business meeting at my extremely huge mansion by the mountains where I usually held dangerous Operation meetings. I was supposed to be fully focused at the meeting so as to not miss any important detail. But here I was smiling at some message Olivia sent. I should not have given her my personal contact. This was a mistake.

I continued to listen to Roderick speak as he talked about shipping some of the cocaine to other parts of Africa, and then to America.

I got distracted again by a notification from Olivia. This time, she was asking about the details of my black card. This was the reason that I had given her my personal number to text me, so I had to reply to her.

"Continue Roderick, I am listening to you", I said as I quickly sent her the details of the black card and shoved my phone into my pocket.

A part of me did not want her to text me anymore, but a part of me wanted her to send some more texts about anything. I was not a texter, and I had no idea how to reply to texts about random things without a certain purpose, but I had no idea why I wanted her to text me again.

When Roderick had finished outlining the shipping routes, I nodded thoughtfully, and gave out a standard plan on how I wanted the operation to be carried out.

"Alright, here's how we'll proceed. We'll use our usual concealed routes to transport the cocaine from Africa to America. We'll create fake shipping companies to disguise the true nature of our shipments, using forged documents, bribing and threatening officials to ensure smooth passage all the way through. Remember that although we already have the lives of a lot of government officials and policemen in our hands, there may still be an opposing force against us, so we must be very careful."

It was true that my Mafia had people's lives in our hands. Most policemen and the government officials knew that we knew them and their families so well that it was easy to get rid of them if we wanted. So usually when we stated our Mafia name or showed our insignia, they let us do as we pleased. My Mafia was also discreet enough that no policeman or government officials knew the main Mafia leader was me. My men had sworn to protect me by all means, and that also meant My Mafia family having different fake Mafia bosses. By having fake Mafia bosses, it was difficult to take down the Mafia that I had built. There was nothing that was ever going to stop us.

But I also had to warn them that, as strong as our Mafia was, there were still people out there willing to try to take us down. These included powerful government officials, strong-willed policemen and detectives, rival mafias and drug lords, and other criminal organizations. We had always emerged victorious against them, but it was better to always be cautious at all times.

My men listened attentively, nodding, and taking notes as I spoke.

"Once we've infiltrated the ports and customs, we'll set up distribution networks across various cities and regions in America. We'll utilize encrypted communication to coordinate with our associates and distributors, making sure to stay one step ahead of law enforcement and any association that will not be of an assistance to us."

The meeting came to an end a few hours later after I and my men had successfully planned out all our dangerous operations.

Immediately I took out my phone from my pocket, I got a message and saw more texts from Olivia. I opened it excitedly to see that she had sent three different pictures of the wedding dresses that she had tried out. She had also asked about my opinion on which was the best for her.

I saw why she was confused. I was confused as well and did not know what to say to her. The three dresses all looked amazing on her.

The wedding dress with the emeralds made her look like a proper Mafia Boss' wife. Her cleavages were also going to come out clean in them. They were perfect and looked expensive. I loved them.

The slitted wedding dress made me think about all the naughty things I could do with her. She was beautiful and her skin was spotless. That wedding dress was going to force me to show the emotions that I did not want to show.

The third dress I know would make Olivia look like a queen. I knew I was going to be smitten if I saw her on that dress. She looked elegant in whatever she wore. It made me wonder how gorgeous she was going to look in the ball gown.

But I did not want to give her the satisfaction that I was getting infatuated with her, that would mean that I was not in control. I did not want her to have any idea that I liked her.

A part of me wanted her. That part of me wanted her to want me partly because that would help me control her better, but also because I was getting deeply infatuated with her.

The other part of me did not want her. I was not good for her, I was deadly, dangerous, rude, narcissistic, manipulative, selfish and unfaithful. To make things worse, I was not ready to give up any of those traits for her. For her own good, it was better that she was not in love with me.

"If it's not somehow important, I don't expect you to text me. Tell Mia to pick a dress for you if you're so indecisive. If you're still uncertain after asking Mia, you can buy all three dresses. I don't care", I typed hurriedly, and hit the send button before I would stop myself.

I did not like the fact that I could not be as mean as I would have been to any other girl. With Olivia, it was difficult to be my true self. Wicked.

I had even told her that she could buy all three dresses if she wanted. Actually, I did not mind if she got all three dresses. Even though I was never going to admit it, I was excited to see whichever one she picked, whether it was going to be one, two, or all three of the dresses. She looked great in them all.

When I had typed that I did not care, I was lying. I cared a bit. A bit was too much for me to handle. I did not care about anyone, but myself. I loved myself. I adored myself. I did not think anyone was worth my time and my affection. But something about Olivia made my stomach ache. What was she doing to me?

I flew with some of my men to carry out part of the cocaine operation, and the heroine operation. The government, policemen and detectives were not the problems in this case. But a French Drug lord, Leo, posed a great threat towards I and my men.

When we got to one of our transfer warehouses, we met Leo and his crew trying to steal some cocaine from us. They obviously had their own operation to carry out, but somehow they thought that stealing from me and my men would make their own operation more successful. I knew they had overpowered and killed the men that I had instructed to watch over the transfer warehouse.

A lot of tension was in the air. Leo, the French Drug lord, stood calmly, a smirk on his face. "Alexander, I've been expecting you," he said, his voice dripping with arrogance.

"You're a hard man to find, Leo,"I replied, my voice relaxed and calm, but dangerous. My eyes were locked on his.

"But now that we've found you, you're going to have to hand over all the stolen items including all your items as well", I added, my grip on the gun getting firmer.

Leo snorted. "You think you can take me down, Alexander? I have connections, resources…"

"I don't care about your connections," I interrupted, pointing my gun at his forehead ready to shoot.

"What I care about is taking down anyone who gets in my way."

Suddenly, Leo's men emerged from the shadows, guns blazing. My men returned fire, and the warehouse erupted into chaos. I dove behind a crate, bullets whizzing past my head.

"Take cover!" I yelled to my men.

Leo's voice rang out above the gunfire. "You'll never take me alive, Alexander!"

I peered around the crate, my gun locked on Leo. "We'll see about that," I growled, squeezing the trigger.

The sound of gunfire echoed through the warehouse. The gunfight lasted for more than twenty minutes. It ended when Leo got severely injured. One of my bullets had hit him on the chest and he was bleeding profusely. His second in charge had to call for a retreat. The ones that could retreat had run for their lives not able to take any item with them. They left behind their illicit items, as well as the ones they were trying to steal from my warehouse.

A lot of my men had sustained injuries, some minor, some major. But all my men that got injured during the gunfight got treated and had a higher chance of survival.

On the other hand, most of Leo's men had died from the gunfight. I made sure to finish off the ones that were severely injured and could not retreat. I shot at anyone that was still breathing.

Leo had killed my men that were guarding the warehouse. I was glad that I had killed more of his men. It served him right. I promised myself that I was going to kill him the next time the opportunity presented itself.

This was how the Mafia world operated. It was quite a pity that a soft young woman like Olivia was going to get entangled in all these messy things the Mafia did. This was why she needed to be trained as soon as we got married.
