UK:GSW Chapter 315: Kakashi Disciplined by His Father—The Loyalty of White Zetsu in the Parallel World
Take up a weapon? Why should I? Why should I listen to you?
Although Kakashi really wanted to say that and display strong momentum to appear imposing and not be easily handled—something an elite ninja of the Leaf should have—when he met Sakumo Hatake's cold eyes, a strong feeling of guilt surged up and he didn't dare to disobey.
By the time Kakashi came to his senses, he found himself standing in front of the weapon rack, his right hand unconsciously gripping a sword.
It looked ordinary, just a straight‑bladed katana he had used during his ANBU days and hadn't used since leaving. He chose it purely on instinct, because of familiarity.
But Sakumo was extremely displeased. Right beside that sword was a 1:1 replica of the White Fang Blade, yet Kakashi hadn't chosen it.
Those cold eyes grew colder, making Kakashi sweat immediately. He didn't understand why the other was dissatisfied—he had picked a sword.
Completely at a loss as to what he'd done wrong, Kakashi felt very insecure, as if everything he did was wrong.
Then Sakumo decided he didn't want to waste words with Kakashi. The father, heartsick at his son's failure, decided to use action to let him understand what was called fatherly love.
In an instant, a blade came at him, aiming at Kakashi's neck. He was startled and reflexively raised his sword to block.
Even though he had been cowed by his father's aura, the instinct honed over years as a ninja made him react correctly.
Except—
Clang!
A crisp metallic clash sounded. Kakashi felt a terrifying force surge at him. He couldn't hold his sword; pain shot through his tiger mouth, and his sword was knocked away.
Such terrifying strength and sharp swordsmanship shocked Kakashi; he truly felt the man's power.
When Kakashi looked up again, he saw eyes seemingly about to spit fire.
"You can't even hold a sword steady. Kakashi Hatake, what have you been doing all these years?"
Such a question left Kakashi without an answer. Finally, thinking of something, he spoke quietly: "I abandoned the Hatake sword style many years ago."
Sakumo froze, then his expression darkened further. "Why?"
Kakashi answered in a helpless tone: "Because I didn't have my father's talent with the blade. During the Third Shinobi World War, my White Fang Blade was even broken by the enemy."
"In the end, I relied on the Sharingan my friend gave me to complete a jutsu I had never been able to finish. Since then, my fighting style has no longer used swords. I became an all‑purpose ninja."
Facing this mysterious, unfamiliar man, Kakashi couldn't lie or fob him off. He laid out the reasons he had changed and abandoned the Hatake sword.
After listening, Sakumo frowned, then seemed to realize something: because of his suicide, Kakashi hadn't inherited his teachings and had to train according to his own understanding.
Under those circumstances, in the Third Shinobi World War, Kakashi's White Fang Blade broke. For someone who trained in blades, that would shatter his sword heart.
And at that time, Kakashi gained the Sharingan, which could copy others' ninjutsu and taijutsu. Thus abandoning the Hatake sword and becoming an all‑purpose ninja was natural.
In this respect, the main world's Kakashi was luckier than this parallel Kakashi, because that world hadn't had the Third Shinobi World War yet. Kakashi there still had a firm sword heart and was determined to make the Hatake sword style shine in the shinobi world again.
Moreover, in that world, Sakumo had been resurrected and took the initiative to teach Kakashi. Though he hid his real identity, for the still very young and malleable main‑world Kakashi it was like a classic novel protagonist meeting a top grandfather and being taken under his wing.
Thinking this, Sakumo felt guilty and even more grateful to Uchiha Kei. If not for Lord Kei, his Kakashi might have grown into this Kakashi—a kidney‑deficient man who discarded his family sword style.
However, Sakumo was the type of man who, even when feeling guilty, didn't know how to relate to his child. And now his son was suddenly already thirty‑one and not much younger than him.
Thus after hesitating, Sakumo decided to communicate his way. "If that's so, Kakashi Hatake, then fight me with all your strength! Let me see whether your all‑purpose abilities are worth abandoning the Hatake sword style!"
Kakashi was silent for a moment, then raised his hand and lifted the headband covering his left eye, revealing his scarred eye and the three‑tomoe Sharingan.
"Please," Kakashi said, a phrase with a certain momentum.
And then…
"Weak attacks. Who could that kill?"
"So this is the power you gained for giving up the Hatake sword? How laughable!"
"Chidori—Lightning Blade? A very strong ninjutsu, but don't forget, a longer weapon is stronger. A technique that must use your hand to attack directly is laughable! The openings are too big!"
"Kakashi, you really disappoint me. This is the power you got for the Hatake sword? So‑called all‑purpose is just all‑useless!"
One scolding after another came from Sakumo, fully showing his dissatisfaction and disappointment in Kakashi.
During this, Kakashi was continually struck by the back and flat of Sakumo's blade. It hurt all over; he felt terrible.
How many years? How many years had Kakashi not been disciplined like this? Did he not want his face?
Yet when he faced Sakumo's cold, unfamiliar face, Kakashi's anger always vanished inexplicably. He couldn't keep being angry. In the end he could only quietly close his mouth and, at Sakumo's urging, continue fighting.
While Kakashi was about to receive fatherly "love" after many years, over in Roran, Uchiha Kei had already met with Orochimaru and the others and learned from these experts about the crossing.
On learning that an outpost was being built and that crossing could now proceed relatively stably, Uchiha Kei's mouth curved into a smile. He was quite satisfied.
After all, this meant his initial plan—to make the parallel world a market for Genjutsu games—now had the conditions for success.
Also, Uchiha Kei could cross to the parallel world and see the world of the original Naruto himself.
Of course, he wouldn't go in person; he'd send a clone.
As someone well versed in staying alive, Uchiha Kei firmly believed that one should be as cautious as possible. Going personally to an unknown place was a last resort. If his main body could stay safe at home and send a clone to explore, why risk his life?
According to Orochimaru and the others' research, if you went to the parallel world, the Genjutsu network wouldn't work, and if a shadow clone dispersed there, the clone's memories wouldn't return to the main body. The connection would be completely severed.
However, once they confirmed a stable crossing gate that could be maintained, the link between clone and main body would still break. Everything needed further research.
After learning these things, Uchiha Kei rubbed his chin and put forward an idea—take the "Spiritual Network Fixed‑Point Signal Generator," the piece of black tech produced by the system, into the parallel world to see if the Genjutsu network signal could be brought over.
Undoubtedly, this was a very novel proposal. It made Orochimaru and the others' eyes light up. Though it would mean the stable signal source in Roran would be lost, that didn't mean it couldn't be solved. Before Uchiha Kei got the signal generator, they had already set up a network signal here; it was just costly and couldn't be maintained all the time. If they really needed it, they could still use it.
For example, Uchiha Kei's clone could act as a signal source. Even without the signal generator, Tobirama Senju could continue to exist through his connection to Uchiha Kei.
And because of this possibility, the experiment was put on the schedule.
However, for prudence, Orochimaru and the others decided to wait until the stable crossing gate was built before trying it. Firstly, in theory, a stable crossing gate could also support signal transmission. Secondly, the parallel world remained dangerous. If there were enemies, they might lose the signal generator.
Speaking of enemies, that world indeed had some, including enemies that could monitor anywhere—White Zetsu!
Unlike the main world's White Zetsu, those in that world still obeyed Black Zetsu, and because of White Zetsu's peculiar nature, they were everywhere. They needed to resolve the White Zetsu problem quickly.
This time Uchiha Kei sent a clone partly to solve this.
Thus, in this world, Uchiha Kei summoned the hidden White Zetsu. These were the ones he'd called ahead of time, fifty in all. They would go to the parallel world and remove any White Zetsu near Roran who might threaten their work or expose the crossing.
Orochimaru and Sasori were used to White Zetsu now; they had seen so many. Many White Zetsu had cooperated on various experiments on Uchiha Kei's orders. So seeing them again, they were calm.
Tobirama Senju, however, was seeing them for the first time. These things made him frown deeply. His first impression of the pale, strange beings was very bad—especially since they kept calling Lord Kei with the utmost loyalty.
His Uchiha PTSD flared.
However, thinking that he himself was now under Uchiha Kei, unable to resist, and that his elder brother, his elder brother's grandson, Tsunade the would‑be Fourth Hokage, and Minato Namikaze, the possible Fifth Hokage, all had very good relations with Uchiha Kei, he felt his PTSD was unnecessary.
Now Uchiha Kei was, to Konoha, an even more terrifying existence than Madara Uchiha once was.
But on the other hand, someone with such power and connections still thought of himself as a member of Konoha and even brought the Uchiha into Konoha. He was not comparable to the likes of Madara.
Even as an uncrowned king, if he made Konoha better, did it matter that he was an Uchiha?
Before he knew it, Tobirama Senju's mindset adjusted. He joined the discussion, speaking about quickly building the crossing gate.
Under the joint effort of a group of geniuses, a plan was quickly decided, and work began immediately.
After all, this was long planned and all materials were prepared. They were only finalizing the plan.
With Uchiha Kei watching, the three top shinobi researchers, aided by many puppet clones, soon built the crossing gate.
The "Spiritual Network Fixed‑Point Signal Generator" was dismantled by Uchiha Kei, ready to be taken to the parallel world.
Incidentally, before this, the White Zetsu had already been sent to the parallel world. They would go ahead to capture the White Zetsu near Roran and confirm whether the crossing actions had been seen by White Zetsu.
When Uchiha Kei's clone, Tobirama Senju, Orochimaru and Sasori arrived in the parallel world, the White Zetsu came running excitedly and said the nearby White Zetsu had been dealt with.
There were indeed White Zetsu near Roran, but they were looking for Naruto. The disappearance of Naruto was something not only the Hidden Sand and Leaf were concerned about. Black Zetsu was concerned too. Upon learning Naruto had vanished, he sent White Zetsu everywhere to look.
Thus Roran was being watched by White Zetsu.
When Orochimaru and the others came to investigate, hidden White Zetsu saw them. But they didn't know what was going on, so they remained hidden—mainly because Black Zetsu wanted them to look for Naruto, and it wasn't Naruto who had crossed.
In a word, it was luck. Orochimaru's cautious approach nearly exposed them to the parallel world's enemies.
Fortunately, Uchiha Kei arrived with the main world's White Zetsu. Those White Zetsu immediately went to their parallel brothers to "snuggle" and, using methods learned in the main world, began large‑scale indoctrination of the parallel White Zetsu.
So when Uchiha Kei and the others officially arrived, they saw a crowd of old White Zetsu surrounded by many new White Zetsu with clear, silly, curious eyes.
All Uchiha Kei needed to do was have these guys find his main body, so the main body could give the new White Zetsu a "Taste Bud of the Large Intestine Technique."
Then the new White Zetsu would be like the old ones—loyalty almost carved on their foreheads.
