Chapter 3 - Part 3 : Whispers of Secrets

Sirens were heard everywhere, ambulance, cops, reporters. It was evident that some incidents had happened.

Reporter: Breaking news today at Saint joseph's University, two students have died. The police say that they are burnt at the highest temperature , and nothing except bones are left alongside. There was another boy found unconscious. Right now, he's been taken into hospital for further treatment. The forensic team has just arrived to investigate the crime scene.it was a tremendous scene indeed. Abhi was taken to the hospital. When Vivek got the news of such disaster happening, he turned pale, his horror coming true. He never wanted anybody to know what kind of unknown powers does Abhishekh had. He immediately used his connections to get Abhi out of the situation, although it was very difficult as deaths were involved. Vivek spends money like water just to get Abhi out of the situation. Abhi, when in hospital, learned that he was actually never blind. Vivek knows that he can stop anything but Abhi's questions. Abhi was not a kid anymore to be manipulated he will have many questions, and Vivek had to be ready to tackle them.

A few hours later,

Vivek, however, got his son back home to get rid of the news and rumors Vivek had decided to send Abhishekh abroad. Vivek was in his room standing in front of the fireplace. Meanwhile, Abhi wanted answers he couldn't let his father go without answering him. Abhi barged in his father's room.

Abhi: DAD!!! I need to talk!!

Vivek remained silent he didn't move and stood still back-facing his son.

Abhi: Am I Blind? didn't you tell me that I'm blind? then how can I suddenly see? tell me, dad?

There was a thick silence. The only sound was the woods burning in the fireplace.

Vivek: "No, you're not... you never were."

Abhi's breath hitched. His fingers clutched into a fist.

Abhi: "Then why did you lie to me my whole life? Why did you tie this cloth on my eyes? Why did you let me believe I was broken?!"

Vivek finally gathered courage and turned around facing his son.

Vivek: "Because the truth was worse, Abhi. You were born... different. When you opened your eyes for the first time, the light they emitted burned those who helped your mother give birth just like those boys who died in the university. The doctor in the tent that night—she screamed because your cry set everything on fire. We tried to hide it, suppress it. I raised you blind to keep you, and the world, safe..."

Abhi didn't respond. He stood there numb, processing all this information. He was lost of words. The truth felt like a dragger stabbed in his chest. The fact that his birth itself took many lives stung harder. He was lost of courage to face his father. He took a step back...

"I? I took those lives?" He ran back to his room, locking himself inside. He sat there. His gaze went towards the window where his reflection was visible. For the first time, he saw himself. His eyes were a rare shade of white or silver. He was still in a dilemma. While he was lost in looking at his reflection, a sudden sound flinched him. A vase has fallen. He immediately went towards the noise . While he reached there, he saw someone a person on the other window ready to jump. He wore a black cloak face covered with a cloth.

"HEY!!!"

Before Abhi could catch him, he jumped and disappeared. Abhi went towards the window to see where he was, but he was too fast. He saw the vase on the floor broken into pieces. Before leaving, his eyes fell on something shiny, which was on the floor. as he took it. It was a simple golden ring. Abhi started analyzing it as he saw something carved on the ring horizontally and in a very small size.

He walked toward his desk lamp and brought the ring under it, using his sense of touch to trace the symbol.

It was an eye.

But not a human eye. This eye had three pupils. And around it, an inscription in a language he didn't recognize. Suddenly, as his thumb passed over, the center of the eye—a sharp jolt ran up his arm, and the ring glowed faintly with a dim blue hue. Abhi gasped and dropped it, but it didn't hit the floor. It was floating. The ring hovered in the air in front of him for a few seconds, then dropped with a light clink. Abhi backed away, heart pounding.

Abhi (to himself): "What... is this thing?"

Abhi stood frozen, staring at the ring that had just hovered in the air before falling to the ground with a faint clink. His heart pounded. Whatever that ring was, it wasn't normal. His breath hitched as he reached down and picked it up once again, more carefully this time. It was warm. No... not warm. Alive. He slowly ran his fingers over the carving again—the eye with three pupils surrounded by symbols that felt ancient, forgotten. The sensation sent a tingle through his fingertips, almost as if the ring was recognizing him. Or scanning him. Abhi whispered to himself, "What the hell are you...?"He backed away from the shattered window and carefully placed the ring into the drawer of his bedside table, covering it with a cloth Just then, a sharp pain stabbed behind his eyes, forcing him to clutch his head. And in that moment—it all changed Visions, not memories—visions. Blurry shapes... voices calling his name from a world cloaked in flames... a creature with twisted limbs and a smile made of smoke... a woman in chains whispering, "The key is waking... protect it... protect him..."And then... a flash of that same symbol from the ring, etched into the sky in glowing crimson. He collapsed to the floor, gasping for air, drenched in sweat. His mind reeled. It wasn't just a ring. It was a message. A summon. Someone—or something—was now aware that he had it. He sat against the wall, trying to steady his breathing, trying to understand what just happened. But deep down, he knew—this was only the beginning. Something had changed in the air. The intruder hadn't come to kill him. They came to see if he was ready. The ring... was never meant to be found so soon, but now that it was—they would come again, and next time, they wouldn't leave a ring behind.
