Marlon turned to leave, his silky gown swaying with each step as he moved toward the exit of Lucian's mansion. He had already decided—nothing was going to stop him from seeing Axel.
But before he could make it out the door, Lucian's hand shot out, gripping his wrist firmly.
"Where do you think you're going?" Lucian's voice was sharp, almost commanding.
Marlon snapped his head back and glared at him. "I already told you, didn't I? I'm going to see my brother." His tone was laced with annoyance, like he couldn't believe he had to repeat himself.
Lucian's eyes narrowed. He tightened his hold, his gaze equally fierce. "What do you think you are, Superwoman? You're injured. Badly. You should be in a hospital right now. You refused treatment and insisted on staying here instead, and I tolerated it. But now you think you can walk around as if nothing's wrong? Tell me, do you not care about your own life?"
