Axel had already crawled near the LEVO men. He held his position, silently waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack. The men were still huddled together, talking about their confusion and the mysterious killer.
Just then, one of the LEVO men's phones suddenly rang.
"Like I thought," Axel mused silently to himself. "They really have a way to communicate with the outside world."
The man who answered the phone spoke with a frightened expression. "No, we haven't succeeded yet."
Axel quickly analyzed the situation. The LEVO men were clearly being called by their boss to confirm if they had managed to kill him already. Axel was no fool; he knew that it was K, that bastard, who was behind all of this.
Axel continued to listen intently. He saw the LEVO man on the call widen his eyes in surprise. "What? You really want us to come back?"
Axel didn't catch whatever else the LEVO man was told on the phone, but he clearly heard the man say, "Yes, boss," before he ended the call.
