Amir didn't stop eating until his stomach was stuffed.
"Good~," he said with a satisfied burp, sipping his drink to cut through the grease.
With daily training, he didn't have to worry about gaining weight, so he could enjoy his food in peace.
"I should've come here years ago," Obi-Wan said with some regret.
"I once had roasted dewback at a space station resort—but it still doesn't compare to the local stuff," Wolf agreed, quite satisfied. Dewbacks, native to Tatooine, were large herbivorous creatures commonly used as transportation or for hauling cargo.
But not always. As the saying goes: "No trade, no slaughter." Amir wiped the greasy guilt from the corner of his mouth.
Due to their sheer size, a single dewback—standing over four meters tall—could provide meat for several restaurants in Mos Eisley all night long. Sometimes they even shipped parts offworld.
After dinner, the trio returned to the Voyager. They didn't go back to Obi-Wan's hut, instead each found a room on the ship to rest.
Amir wasn't tired yet, so he closed his eyes and began meditating.
First, he reviewed everything Obi-Wan had taught him earlier in the day. At the same time, he used the Force to clumsily control a pen to draw and write on paper.
For the Force, the size of an object didn't really matter when moving it from a distance. What mattered was the connection between the object and the Force user.
As long as you could sense an object's presence through the Force, you could manipulate it at a basic level. But the more familiar you were with it, the easier and more precise that manipulation became.
This particular pen had been made by Amir himself—just a simple carbon core and a fitted casing.
He knew it inside and out, so manipulating it was easy. The tricky part was using it to write smoothly. That part felt awkward and took repeated practice. Still, the process also helped him refine his control over the Force.
"My connection with the Force has definitely grown stronger," Amir muttered to himself. Where once he could barely sense the status of various systems aboard the Voyager, now it came with ease.
Finally, after painstakingly writing down all the critical knowledge and historical insights, Amir opened his eyes.
Feeling a bit bored, he picked up the lightsaber sitting on his desk.
This was the one he had salvaged from Saen's old Jedi starfighter. To this day, Saen still had no idea that Amir could activate it.
He gripped the hilt and turned it over in his hands. Something felt... off. The grip, the weight—it hadn't been designed for him. It was made specifically for someone else.
Back in the Jedi Order, there had been a special droid that helped Younglings build their first lightsabers.
After finding their resonant Kyber crystal on the snowy planet Ilum, Younglings would choose from a variety of compatible parts under the droid's supervision and assemble the weapon themselves.
That process not only ensured a perfect fit and feel for the Jedi, but also helped them understand their weapon on a deep level, making it a natural extension of themselves in combat.
The Kyber crystal was critical—not just a component, but a living conduit for the Force. A crystal that resonated with its user could sharpen the blade's focus and even heighten their Force sensitivity.
Setting down the old saber, Amir reached for the Kyber crystal that hung from his chest.
It was the one Gurilegana had given him. When the little witch had first handed him the crystal, he'd felt something strange—like the crystal itself had glowed in recognition.
"Was that the legendary resonance?" he wondered.
Gurilegana had even told him the crystal had chosen him, as if it had a will of its own.
And indeed, Amir could feel a gentle current of the Force coming from the crystal, always reaching toward him.
He untied the green cord and removed the crystal.
"It's time to build my own lightsaber," he thought.
With that, he left his room and pulled Obi-Wan from meditation over to the workbench.
He had a rough idea of what parts were needed, but with an experienced teacher, the process would be much safer. After all, lightsabers weren't without their dangers—one misstep and you could cause an explosion.
Might as well make full use of having a master.
"If you want to make your own lightsaber, you'll need a Kyber crystal, my dear Padawan," Obi-Wan said, groggy as he stepped out.
Amir showed him the green crystal.
Obi-Wan's eyes widened. "A perfect crystal. This must've formed on the tip of a stalactite deep in a completely sealed cave. No impurities. A beautiful green hue."
"But the Jedi and the crystal must choose each other—without that connection, the saber won't reach its full potential."
He paused, then added, "It looks like it has bonded with you. Where did you get it?"
Obi-Wan looked deeply curious.
"The Force brought it to me," Amir answered vaguely.
"Flawless logic."
With that, Obi-Wan began teaching him the components and construction process of a lightsaber.
Amir had plenty of varied parts stored aboard the Voyager, and thankfully, they met the requirements.
"This is the best power cell I've got on the ship," Amir said, studying the internal structure.
"It's powerful, yes—but you'll need high-grade inert energy insulators and vortex rings to control the flow. Otherwise, the energy won't pass cleanly through the crystal—it'll disperse and explode," Obi-Wan warned patiently.
"But on the bright side, a strong power cell will create a denser blade with greater cutting strength."
Amir adjusted the energy regulation system, then crafted a base for the crystal from alloy. Above it, he left space for energy storage. A transparent focusing crystal sat atop that chamber.
Energy channeled through the Kyber crystal would split and flow along a stabilizing circuit: one direction to form the blade, the other returning to the power cell's negative terminal.
This allowed the saber to conserve energy when idle, releasing its heat and cutting power only upon contact—instantly melting or slicing through obstacles.
Finally, he added a series of blade adjustment modules to the top.
With that, the inner core of the saber was complete.
Amir and Obi-Wan both let out long sighs of relief.
Normally, Amir could build a speeder in fifteen minutes. This had taken him nearly two hours.
"You must be out of your mind," Obi-Wan said, shaking his head. "This thing's way too unstable. When you test it, do it outside the ship—and far away from me."
"Hey, it's not my fault. These are the only parts I've got."
