Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: The Jedi Temple

"An entrance?" Amir stepped up beside BD-4 and looked to Ahsoka.

Only after a closer look did Amir realize this was the temple wall.

BD-4 had finished its scan and immediately projected the captured imagery, chirping excitedly the whole time.

Listening to BD-4, something clicked in Amir's head.

"Pull up that image, BD-4."

BD-4 quickly switched to the photo taken inside the ice cave on Hoth.

"These patterns overlap in a lot of ways," Ahsoka said—she'd clearly noticed it too.

"But we still can't figure out what they actually mean," Amir admitted. He was also worried this place might end up like Hoth—sealed, impossible to enter.

If they had to build a base from scratch out here in the wilds, it would be a logistical nightmare. If they could simply occupy the temple instead, that would be ideal.

"I just told you this is the entrance." Ahsoka smiled faintly.

Amir suddenly understood what she meant. He reached out with the Force again—but still felt nothing. The stone wall was almost identical to the one on Hoth: unresponsive, like it didn't care what he tried.

"Temple mechanisms usually require the Force to operate," Ahsoka said, raising her right hand. "Help me."

Then she pushed.

"Push?" Amir frowned. In his Force-sense, there were seams between the blocks, but he hadn't focused on the micro-differences closely enough to confirm movement. And he'd already sensed more than ten meters of solid mass behind it.

Still, he did as she asked—adding Force pressure to try to shift the wall.

Krak.

With a soft crack, the wall actually started sliding inward.

A wave of helpless disbelief hit Amir. He'd been wracking his brain over this for ages, and the solution was… this simple.

So that was it—the simplest solution usually wins. A mechanism like this would stop most intruders. For Jedi, it was trivial. He'd overcomplicated it.

"You can't identify a mechanism just by staring at murals," Ahsoka explained. "Temples across the galaxy use environmental filters—simple tests. Jedi or Sith, it's rarely complicated. Sometimes you just need to try more than one approach."

"So Hoth might be the same kind of mechanism?" Amir asked.

"Can't say. It could be similar—built by the same group, or in the same era. But internal purpose changes everything," Ahsoka said. "Some temples store dangerous artifacts. Some are for meditation and training. Some preserve archives. Some are purely ceremonial. Different functions, different structures."

"Let's go in," Ahsoka said.

BD-4 climbed onto Amir's shoulder and became a living flashlight. The "wall" turned out to be a rectangular stone pillar more than ten meters long. Under Amir and Ahsoka's combined push, it slid neatly into a prepared recess.

They stepped through the newly opened passageway.

"I thought this would be a local shrine," Amir said, taking in the precision of the architecture. "Didn't expect a concealed Jedi temple."

"This world is a minor Force nexus," Ahsoka said. "And according to Guri Ganna's tribal records, Force-sensitives have appeared here for thousands of years."

"There—side passages." Two open corridors emerged on either side ahead; the pillar they'd pushed had slid into place and stopped right at that junction.

As they entered, Amir scanned the surroundings—and with a flick of his hand, several bright flame-lamps ignited across the room.

"Looks like there's still plenty of stored power," he said. The place was full of clever mechanisms—touch the right switch and systems woke up, like these lamps.

"This space is wide enough to serve as a shelter," Ahsoka said, assessing quickly. "Ventilation shafts are intact… even just this section is enough for us. We should bring in a small ship group, clear the exterior, and relocate the children here as soon as possible. Staying in the open carries too much risk."

You could never predict how the Empire would track you. A probe could drop onto the planet tomorrow and wander straight into Guri Ganna's village.

"I'll prep a generator and start converting this area," Paks said, already moving off. "We need comms online fast." He headed away to contact their people.

"Let's go deeper," Amir said. He could feel something inside—something waiting deeper within the temple.

"Alright."

With the lights on, BD-4 bounced free and volunteered to scout ahead.

"Judging by the dust, nobody's been here for centuries," Amir murmured. "The fact this place even survived in the holorecorder data is a miracle."

"That holorecorder came from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant," Ahsoka said quietly. "The Archives held oceans of data—kept for thousands of years, from the Old Republic to now. It's just that…"

Just that the Empire had seized it—and it was now in the hands of Sith.

"We'll take it all back," Amir said, not knowing what else to offer. "The Force will return to balance."

Ahsoka didn't dwell on the past for long. She steadied herself and kept moving.

With a Force-push, they opened another heavy door—and entered a circular hall. The moment Ahsoka saw it, she blurted, startled:

"A seal?!"

Amir looked ahead. Concentric lines were carved into the floor, linking into a circuit-like ring with nine total nodes.

On five of those nodes sat pyramid-shaped crystals.

"Sealing what?" Amir asked, stepping closer.

"This temple is probably sealing something," Ahsoka said, circling the hall. "It could be valuable records, a weapon, or coordinates to a forbidden site."

She nodded toward the crystals.

"These are Massassi crystals—from a civilization that collapsed thousands of years ago. Their ruins include ancient temples, and these crystals show up in a lot of relic sites. They store huge energy, and they can function as keys. Looks like this temple inherited their architecture. Once all nine nodes are fitted with crystals, whatever secret this place is hiding should reveal itself."

Amir was immediately intrigued—but they had only five crystals. Pathetic.

"Do these crystals circulate on the market?" he asked.

"They should," Ahsoka said. "Major museums keep specimens—especially for archaeological verification when new discoveries surface."
