After the events that transpired, Shurry had been brought to a specialty made room aboard the School District. It was a rather well equipped room, in that it had its own personal bathroom, kitchen, study room, and bedroom. It was clearly a room made for the students here. It was here that Leon had brought Shurry, washed him, and put him to bed. It's been three days since then, and the ship has already departed from Telskyura, departed from the horrible place that now haunts his nightmares.
Sitting in a rather comfortable looking chair, there sat a woman. In one hand she held an apple, in the other she gently held a paring knife. Next to her was a small cart equipped with a few different amenities, snacks, drinks, and even methods to cook an assortment of easy meals. The woman was a picturesque beauty, simply witnessing her smile makes others think, perfection.
Right now, she was preparing a special snack for the young boy who slept in the bed. She witnessed his condition each and every day since he arrived. She thought back to the day she first saw him. "It's rare for us from Tekai to feel such rage." She muttered.
Once she did, a man, with a similarly perfect visage, answered her. He was currently looking out of the window, towards the morning sun. "Considering the boy's age, and how horrible of a sight it was… It's understandable we would feel rage. He should be waking up sometime today. I'd like for him to learn he doesn't need to worry while he's here." It was Baldr, he paused, and took a deep breath and exhaled. "If he doesn't recover, I'd like to keep him as if he were our own child."
The woman paused her peeling motion. "I'd like that, though, we should start that now. And raise him so he won't need to rely on us." The woman replied, continuing her slow and methodical peeling. "I'd like to give him as many happy memories as possible. To replace the horror he went through… I just don't know how much we'll need to give him. Even our language doesn't have enough words to describe what happened to him."
"Idunn, that just means we need to give him as many of those memories as we can, then hope it will be enough. The drug he was given was nothing simple. It was a combination of a powerful aphrodisiac, a spirit suppressor, a soul weakener, and a highly concentrated wolf's bane."
"He wouldn't have survived without that skill that bears the name of Kali. He might not have survived even if the spirit wasn't with him."
The two were both deities from Tekai, and they were now taking care of the 3 year old Shurry. Idunn, a kind goddess, and a kind teacher. Baldr, an exceptionally patient and kind man all around. Once Idunn had learned of what was in the concoction, she began making an antidote for it. Though, even with it, Shurry would still need a lot of time to recover naturally.
Idunn finished peeling the apple, and placed the peel in a simple looking glass pot. She then sliced the apple into cute little shapes. Soon water on the cart came to a boil, and she poured it over the apple peel, creating a light and refreshing apple tea.
Shurry, sweating an unhealthy amount, turned over to his side, to face the smell that now wafted in the air towards him. Sniffing as if it was his nature, the scent roused him from his slumber, his ears perked up, and then he opened his eyes for the first time in three days. His first reaction was to retreat and growl.
Oh dear, the scars really run deep. Idunn was a little surprised by the sudden display, though she wanted to wait for Baldr to come around so Shurry could see him and hopefully relax, she couldn't wait. "Good morning Shurry, I've yet to meet you properly. My name is Idunn. You've met my husband, Baldr, right?" She smiled, though she couldn't hide the sadness in her eyes.
Shurry nodded, but his growling, and teeth bearing didn't stop. He was in a completely new area, nothing smelled the same, and he didn't know how it happened.
"I'm not like those horrible, sad excuses for women." Idunn sad, gently and slowly reaching out her hand, palm down.
Shurry, still absolutely confused, and terrified remained in the corner.
"I heard what happened to you… I did my best to make an antidote for you. I wish it had worked faster…" Idunn said, her smile turning to a solemn straight face. "If you're willing to let me in, I'll do everything I can to protect you."
"Kali said the same…"
This was an answer, entirely expected, but even so, it didn't help to actually hear it. "She did… I see…" Her lips turned saddened, and slightly frowned. "I hope you can come to trust me. It saddens me to see a child tormented as much as this."
It was about this time that Baldr made himself visible to Shurry. Of course he took it slowly so as not to make Shurry panic any further. He didn't say any words, and simply came over and stood next to Idunn.
Seeing this, and how Baldr felt in real time, Shurry's senses kicked in. He started sniffing. "You don't smell like bad people." He said, trembling. "Why?!" He started crying. "Why'd I have to go through that? Why didn't anyone save me?" He cried, what little ability he once had to comprehend beyond the limits of a child, had vanished. He was nothing more than a tormented child.
He crawled over, closer, taking a chance. Their scents were good, so they can't be bad people. Right now he was either alone, or took a chance on them. His face reached Idunn's still outstretched hand, and sniffed once more. He then allowed himself to get closer and closer.
Idunn, taking the chance, wrapped Shurry in her arms. "I don't have an answer for you, but as long as you need it, you cry into me, and get a hug whenever you need."
Shurry, let out hours of tears. The trauma was beyond that of what one could scarcely expect anyone to bear, let alone a child, let alone a toddler. Baldr placed a gentle hand on Shurry's head, hoping to add to the comforting feeling.
