Chapter 53 - C053 : First Dungeon Dive

All dressed up, Hathor took Shurry, and Legi, with her to the guild. The dungeon leader came along with them, attempting to do so in secret, however, Shurry noticed him right away. It didn't take long for the group to arrive at the Guild building. Seeing a goddess appear in the guild was usually a rare sight, especially for ones at the head of a prominent, or affluent familia. So it was a rather odd sight, and the people inside reacted appropriately.

Hathor went to the open counter. "I'd like to use a private room, and register these two as members of my familia."

The guild's woman behind the counter, in a moment of fluster, began doing her job. "Of course Lady Hathor. Right this way."

…

"So, he's five years old? Uh, Pardon me for questioning, but isn't that a little too young to be giving a child their falna?"

"He's level 3, too." Hathor replied with a slight tinge of anger in her voice. "Besides, comparatively, it's not bad. And you don't need any more details about it either."

"Uh, yes, apologies." The guild's woman panicked, and then continued. "And Legi, a level 1 dark elf." She continued, writing the information into the Hathor familia's record. "Alright, that'll do it, you're fully registered into the Hathor familia. Any questions?"

"No, I'll have him learn about the dungeon from my members. If there's anything else he needs after that, he can come to the guild after that time."

…

"Is that really all it takes? I can go in and out of the dungeon now?"

"While you could. I'd prefer if you learn a bit more about it from the others first."

"If that's the case, Lady Hathor, if you would allow it, I can take him into the dungeon now. With me there, surely it would be alright if I'm there with him."

"Lady Hathor, Shurry's always learned best through experience. And he's done damage to that freaky monster. From what I've heard of goliath, he might be able to slay it on his own."

"Oh, really? I'd much like to see if he can. Say, who's turn is it for Goliath this time?"

"I think it was Ganesha familia after the one we bought the right from. Maybe we can purchase it again?"

"I was thinking that we could. But, let's see how things go for a while. Shurry, you go into the dungeon with Bokhoir here. And remember, don't go down too far, too fast. Legi, you should go with them as well. It'll be a good experience."

"I get to- go to the dungeon! Woo Hoo!"

…

After returning to the Hathor familia home, Shurry, Legi and Bokhoir left Hathor with the rest of the familia. They got ready with what little they could, Bokhoir roped a level 2 into being a supporter as well.

"Come on, you know I hate being a supporter."

"Deal with it for now. I've got a feeling we're going down several floors. And I want someone I can count on in case things go sideways."

"Ugh, fine! Since you say it like that, I'll come with you."

On the first floor of the dungeon, Legi was on guard, while Shurry just kept sniffing his way through the maze. It was like he led everyone straight to the monsters, be they goblins or kobolds, it didn't matter. Legi proved that wasn't a pushover when it came to level 1 monsters.

"Wow, Legi, you're really good. It's rare to see level 1s as good as yourself."

"I've been training for a long time. And my partners were rather ruthless, it's thanks to Shurry that I don't have any scars."

"Hmm?"

"I can use healing magic."

"Don't sell it short like that. Your healing magic is the strongest there is."

"Interesting, that's encouraging to hear, but hopefully we don't need to use it."

Just then Shurry smelt a completely different scent, his ears flickered, tail whisked, and his face grew excited. "This smells like bird meat!" And he ran off.

The others followed after him, Legi was falling behind while the others were also barely keeping up the pace. But by the time they reached Shurry, he had a Jack Bird in each hand.

"Holy hell, he found two of those things just like that? They're supposed to be super rare." The level 2 acting as a supporter uttered in amazement.

"They smell like they'll be tasty. Can we butcher them?"

"Sadly, no matter what we do, they'll just drop their items and that's it. And it isn't even food."

"Awe, alright, fine then." Shurry said, lifting one up, and chomped down on it. "Phooey, yucky feathers. But the meat tastes good."

"Eating a monster raw, I've only heard of one other person doing that. Shurry, you really shouldn't do that, it could be dangerous to your health."

"Oh? Alright." He pouted, and then a round circle slammed the birds on the ground, killing both in a single blow. Two golden eggs appeared in their places. "Oh! Those are pretty."

"Indeed, each of them is guaranteed to be worth 1 million valis. This trip is already worth it." Bokhoir laughed. "Shall we continue?"

"Yep! I can smell something sweet coming from over there. I want to check it out." Shurry pointed.

"Oh that might be the pantry."

"Pan- Tree?"

"Pantry, it's a place where the dungeon provides food for the monsters. You can be certain there's going to be tons of monsters there. Though this is the first floor, it's still dangerous. But, I'm sure we could handle it."

"Shurry would be more than enough on his own."

"Really? Interesting. Let's see him do that then."

…

It was a little bit later when the party had arrived at the pantry, and not too long after Shurry began slaughtering the monsters with brutal efficiency. It was clear that he was far more skilled than anyone originally thought.

"This… It makes me want to go down deeper to see more of this prowess on display."

Shurry stood there covered in monster blood, smiling, wagging his tail. "Can we fight more monsters? I'm starting to get warmed up."

"That's a warm up?"

"Yep! When I was training with Uncle Leon, I moved much faster than I did just now."
