Chapter 84 - C084 : Prelude To The Wolf

Shurry's ears flicked a little at the subtle gesture, and continued stuffing his face, quickly finishing the meal with gusto, rubbing his belly, licking his lips, and smiling. "Yummy!"

The barkeep let out a light chuckle, and, given the restaurant was rather tense at the moment, he decided to give into his desire for knowledge here. "Apologies, but your name is, Shurry, correct?"

Lyca & Shurry both glanced at the barkeep with a similar look in their eyes. "Yep, that's me! Oh, uhm, how much was that other meal you brought me?" He asked, pulling out some valis, and started counting them out, though he was experiencing an odd sensation at the moment.

Raising a hand the man shook his head. "No, I'll get it from those ruffians. A child shouldn't have to worry about money. Though, I am curious, how did you manage to put a level 4 to the ground like that?"

Shurry stood up and struck a strong pose, and huffed. "Because I'm strong!" He then giggled, and jumped up, and sat on Lyca's shoulders.

"I see, well, either way it was impressive. She may have been a relatively new level 4, but she was considered a veteran adventurer, it's impressive a child could do that to her. Thanks for that, those idiots hardly ever come in willing to pay full price. It'll be fun next time." The barkeep laughed.

"Shurry, I think it's time we go prepare for a hunt. What do you say?"

"Hmm, you're going hunting?"

"Yes, the full moon is coming tomorrow."

"If it's that kind of hunting then I won't ask, I've heard rumors of how werewolves hunt during the full moon. Though it's rare for that to happen around here-"

"I've never got the full experience before, so Aunty is gonna teach me everything!"

"Have fun then. And give Loki's degenerates the whatfor the next time too. They earned a few good beatings with their antics."

"They've always been like that… We'll be going now."

The pair left the restaurant, and made their way around the city, Lyca did some explanation about what it means to truly be a werewolf, and all of their customs. She ended up making mention of something that made Shurry blush a little bit.

"Oh, but don't worry about that time. It's fine. You didn't know, and giving a bone to another can also just be a symbol of a close relationship…" Shurry lit up again, and wagged his tail, bending over her head with a smile. "I couldn't help but want to see your reaction to hearing that part first." His smile turned to a pout. "Awe, don't pout, your reactions are too cute to miss out on." He smiled again.

…

Off on the other side of the street a goddess walked hand in hand with the new child to her new familia. They both stopped and looked across to the other side. The girl pointed out the two they saw, and her face lit up. The goddess smiled, understanding what the girl wanted, however:

"Sorry Alise, I'm not really built for that, so how about a compromise?" The goddess crouched down and picked up the young girl of her familia, and held her close to her own body, enveloping her in the warmth she gave off.

The girl, Alise, tucked into the goddess, unable to help the thoughts rushing through her mind, no, she didn't want to. "Mommy…" She uttered softly burying her face temporarily, before peaking up with a precious smile. "Mommy's so warm, I love it!"

Elsewhere in Orario, a young werewolf, this one a little bit older than Shurry, had just finished fighting off a couple of thugs using the naturally higher strength given to her by her werewolf heritage. "Serves those bastards right. How dare they gang up on a small helpless child like myself." She commented… "Better me than someone else though, right? At least I can fight back… I wonder, is there anyone else like me in this world?" She muttered, walking with her hands interlocked behind her head.

…

In a prominent familia's home, Ganesha was currently being hounded by four rather persistent people; one a child just a little younger than Shurry, Ardee. Then it was her mother, eldest sister and then the vice captain.

"Come on, I want to grow stronger too! Shurry has a falna, I want one too!" Ardee continued her ever cheerful pestering.

"No! You're too young! Even Shurry is older than you!" Shakti adamantly protested.

"Come on Shakti, you know well and good that boy has had his falna for quite some time." The Varma sisters' mother replied with an almost scolding tone.

"Shakti, I think it's best for people to start growing as soon as possible. Though that might just be the blood in my veins talking." Ilta added.

"I am GANESHA!" The elephant mask wearing deity shouted out spontaneously. Heh, always a show starter! "Shakti, I understand your worries for her. But if she wants a falna, I would reminisce if I made her cry by refusing. She may even try to leave and join her boyfriend's familia. Would you be able to protect her then?"

"BOYFRIEND!"

"Hey now, let's focus on the protecting part."

"No, I wouldn't…"

"And can you say for certain that you can protect her if she doesn't have one?"

"I…" The reports on what Evilus has been up to recently, crossed her mind like a splash of cold water.

"And she also wants to help people. With this she'll be able to do just that, and have more time to bond with that wonderful friend of hers."

After a few more minutes of convincing Shakti to allow it, Ganesha gave Ardee her falna… And a skill appeared right away, Dharmas Argo. Along with a magic spell, Dia Kaumundi. The shock and surprise on Ganesha's face were so insane, he thanked his luck for wearing a mask to hide most of it. He stumbled upon a really powerful child, one he should nurture with everything he's got.

She'll be able to save so many lives… I'll have to give Hathor a hard time if she wants to take her from me now.

Hathor got a light shiver down her spine at that moment. And Shurry returned to the familia home with the hopes of getting permission for the hunt…
