A few days later at the promised time, Freya with her Ottar, and Hathor with Shurry were present in the same room provided by the guild, Royman hosted the two of them. However, they weren't the only ones present, another certain goddess had overheard the situation, and crashed the party, this time with two of her children.
"Heya Freya! I heard from a little birdy you'd be here, whatcha up to here?" Loki said, in her typical fashion.
"Loki, why did you bring me with you this time? I have important plans to take care of-" Finn asked, following in behind her.
"Awe don't be like that Finn, I have a good reason to bring you with me today." Loki smirked, as the other guard followed in. A young girl that Shurry recognized. Loki came up from behind the two child sized people, and hugged them with one arm each. "The two of you are so cute like this, it almost looks like you're siblings."
"They aren't in the slightest." Shurry stated, with a rather intense glare in the general direction of those he calls his enemies. "Royman, you better explain this. Quickly, what is that girl doing here?"
"Achem, it was part of their quest, they managed to reach the floor and collect the girl. However, we agreed for them to have said they reached the floor, but hadn't cleared the 58th."
"They survived the 60th floor?"
"It was weird, when we went down there, the wolves on the 59th floor just ignored us like the plague."
"Oh, that's how you survived. You're welcome I guess. You definitely would have been mauled to death otherwise. There's a level 7 wolf I left down there to control the place. She was level 8 in this last expedition, so she should be working on her way to 9."
"So that's why the floor got so much easier… Interesting. I suppose I owe you one for that-"
"You owe more than you could possibly give. Revival magic isn't possible. And even if it were, it wouldn't be for long after death. And once found out, I don't think Tenkai would like that very much." Hathor spoke in a measured disdain.
"Finn, who is he?" The girl pointed at Shurry, with a blank curious expression.
"That's Shurry, the Origin Wolf, and the strongest adventurer in the city, and probably the world." he answered, then realized she was pointing. "Ais, it's rude to stare."
"He's strong?" Ais asked again, trying to think about what that meant when Finn said it. "I like your ears, they look fluffy."
Royman cleared his throat. "If we could get to the reason why you're all here, unless you have any objections?"
"I don't mind Loki sitting in on this, it might help her children as well."
"I'm fine with it so long as my son is."
"I'll be fine so long as none of them show any hostility." Shurry said, then looked at Freya directly, staring into her eyes sending an un spoken message, then paired it with a spoken one. "That means you too. Both of you are gods that I have no qualms with sending back to Tenkai, personally. So keep that charm of yours under control before I make you keep it under control."
"Oh my, so fierce, You're making me want you even more. Oh well… Now onto the business I mentioned in the request."
Shurry looked at Ottar, and gave a sigh. Looked at Finn, and sighed again. Then Ais… Then he looked in a few different directions, sighing almost every time.
"Go ahead and ask away, but I can't guarantee that you'll like the answer you hear. But one more thing before you ask… No, I will never escort you into the dungeon for any amount. Neither of your familias have anything I want at the moment. And in fact, if either of you did, I'd just take it in a war game you couldn't possibly win."
"So there's no respect for us then?" Finn sighed.
"Exactly, the man who sliced my big brother in two because he was stupid and blindly followed another's orders, Ottar, the murderer. And the man who tried to have my big sister killed in front of me, all for a stupid reason that ended up causing the deaths of every civilian killed by Evilus, Finn, the maniacal commander. So why should I have any respect for you?"
"That's a fair point you've brought up. However, I need to know, what do you think my Ottar needs to level up?"
"He's weak."
"Weak?"
"His overall status, to include his hidden variables from previous levels, really only makes him about as good as a mid level 5." … "But that's not the only pathetic thing about him. He still hasn't figured out what he's even living for, let alone fighting for."
"For my goddess-"
"Don't even think of lying to me. Murderer. I can see it in your eyes, you're worse than this kid, Ais here. They're blank, and emotionless. I told you this just after your humiliating loss to Bokhoir. And you're still mulling it over, despite the people dying in the streets because of your own past mistakes, and current incompetence."
"Then what have you been doing this whole time?"
"Buying the world as much time as I can. Despite how much I love hunting, I even need a damn break now and then. Yet you have me working double, in the dungeon and the surface."
"I need more than that."
"You're too weak to understand it. I didn't bring anyone with me on the expeditions that hadn't mentally prepared for what they were going to see, or had the ability to comprehend it. You lack both qualities right now. Finn's a little less terrible in that regard, but his strength is just utter garbage for a level 5. Any level 4 in mother's familia would be more than enough of a match against him."
"I see… Thank you, so about that other thing I asked for?"
"You want me to waste my precious mind, to constantly suppress your charm so you can just… Play? Get real, if I was in your familia, I might do it, but I think it's better for you to hide away the beauty, living a life of shame for the crime of parting families from each other." He stood up. "You make me sick." He, and Hathor started to leave. He stopped. "However, that girl, she has potential, if you can find a way to draw it out, I might be willing to forgive you, even if only just a little." He continued, and left with Hathor, who clung to him like a happy mother.
"The nerve… Such blasphemy…"
"Ottar, We're still within ear shot, let it go. I was asking for something silly. And perhaps… That same resolve will save us if things get too crazy, isn't that right Royman."
"About that, some merchants have reported seeing mounds where there weren't any before. And occasionally a weird wind-like sound a few weeks away from the city by carriage."
"Hmm, that doesn't sound good."
…
