Chapter 176 - C176 : Into The Fray, Loki Familia!

Loki familia, currently in the middle of a high paced and even mildly chaotic scramble, was thrown into further disarray the moment a dragon descended from the sky, landing the Twilight Manor's courtyard.

"Enough, do not panic, these are friendly people! Members of Ganesha familia." Finn's announcing call seemed to calm everyone down, but it still didn't stop the level 1s and 2s from sweating profusely. Maybe I should have given Loki more control over who we take into the familia. We'll see how they grow in the future.

"Ahahaha! Consider me surprised, it seems Braver's ability to command is the real deal." A voice laughed out, it sounded vaguely like the source was either a child, or a Pallum. Then with a serious expression the voice's source jumped up, somersaulted in the air, and gently landed atop the dragon's head with a small t-pose. "This is my dragon, isn't he cute? His name is Nogdra!" The voice turned cheerful. "Oh, that's right! I AM GRENA! The DRAGOON!"

"Hey, Grena, we should probably hurry this up right? The other two teams can't hold back a horde of dragons on their own for long."

"Oh! That's right!" She shuffled around for the letter. "Ah, got it! Ganesha familia captain Shakti's orders! New combat unit dragon rider team number 3 is hereby assigned to aid Loki familia in combat against aerial enemies. Loki familia Captain may give orders as he sees fit, provided they fall with-in reason."

Finn's eyes widened for a moment. Did they expect something like this to happen? He turned to Loki who shrugged.

"Whatcha looking at me for? I didn't expect this kind of action, but if I had to guess that roar just now were dragons. You should accept their aid."

Finn was put on the spot. He had to rethink everything… He forcibly pressed his spear down to the floor strong enough it broke the silence with ease.

"Loki familia, prepare for battle. Evilus has made their move, the dragons are likely a distraction to pull away all of our strongest fighters. I suspect they will flood the streets with their level 5 combatants." He started, getting the lower levels to gulp and start getting ready.

"What do you want us to do?" Noir asked, with a seemingly wild smirk.

"First, Dragoon, how many can that dragon carry?"

"I can carry one more for about 30 minutes before I'll need to lighten the load. But in a brawl up there I can't guarantee anything." … "But if it's you it'll be about 50 minutes."

"Bara, Dain, Noir, escort Loki to Bable tower. Gareth, stay on the ground, and command the familia from the ground. Riveria, cast your buffs on everyone including the dragon, then start preparing your magic." He spoke his orders. Turned to another and narrowed his vision, making a deadly serious expression "And you, go grab my other spear."

"And what do we do when we're done, delivering Loki there safely?"

"Relentlessly kill the members of Evilus, none of them deserve mercy, make sure you act quickly, else your turn to dust too."

"Finn, are you sure about this? An aide asked, reappearing with the second spear."

"Of course I am. I can't make orders about a unit I don't understand. Besides… I'm sick of being weak."

One could see a small smile appear on Loki's lips. But once it appeared it vanished, as if it was a mirage. Finn blinked at the sight, and then inwardly sighed.

"I love this city, Loki familia, protect as many citizens as you can. Do everything in your power to have more people survive this. Once this is all over, let's all drink ourselves under the table."

Finn ordered the movements, transferred command when needed, and provided enough forces to help limit the damage that Evilus could do. And I gained a chance to level up… Moreover, this woman, she's strong too, a level 3, or, 4? Whatever, it doesn't matter right now, she's the closest I've seen so far… Maybe, just maybe! Finn leaped onto the dragon's back, joining the team for the time being.

"Finn, I'll be ready to fire off my spell, guide the dragon to the top of the tower." Riveria said, reassuring Finn of what he'd need to do if his plan were to fail. Sometimes I think he's an idiot. And why was Ais preparing to slice away? Something about dragons.

"Here we go!" Grena's team with a plus one, rose to the skies.

Once up in the skies, they could see what they were heading to fight. And even managed to meet up with the team that had gone to the Folkvagnr, where the strategist Hedin rode on the dragon's back just like Finn. But something different was that Ottar was being carried by the dragon claws, both of his blades at the ready.

"What are you doing?"

"They insisted on it."

"Alright…"

"Let's lend aid to that uh…"

"The gods call it a dog fight for some reason."

"3"

"2"

"1"

As they approached the ongoing dog fight in the east, the dragons they rode, as easily as they felt the air pass around them, they heard their tamers' orders two streams of fire breath flew ahead of them, singing some of the scales on the enemy dragons.

"Prepare yourselves, and hold on tight!"

Enemy dragons, angered by the suppress attack, retaliated with an attack of their own.

The dragon teams began evasive maneuvers. Deftly dodging the significantly more powerful flames, Finn, Hedin, and Ottar all got a first hand glimpse into just how much stronger these creatures really are. All three thought the same thing.

That thing, is it a level 8?

"Team. 3. 4. Welcome."

"Team. 3. Pulls. Target. Spiral."

"Team. 4. Pulls. Target. Eight. Eyes."

"Confirmed."

"Confirmed."

The swirling of dragons fighting it out, there was one with a single spiral horn. And another with eight eyes. With the four teams now working together, and targets were made clear, they worked together to focus the fights away from each other, isolating the danger dragons presented.

Grena's team, team 3, pulled away the lone level 7 dragon with a single spiral horn. And then team 4 pulled away with the dragon having eight eyes, also a level 7.

Dodging and weaving through the air, making sure that the fighting doesn't put any of the city into the direct pathway of the fire breaths.

Finn jumped off the back of the dragon he was riding, landing the young black dragon. His berserker state almost took over, as he tore holes into the dragon's flesh until he was shaken off. Grena's dragon swooped around to catch Finn, and continued to harass the dragon.

"How long until she's ready to cast?"

"5 minutes!"

"We'll keep it busy then."

From the city below, the people watched as dragons fought, shaking the sky with their fury, just like thunder.

"Is this… The end?"
