On the surface, the battles were finally starting to come to an end. Control of the city was still immensely divided, and the horrific battle between most of the first class adventures, and dragons was still ongoing.
A powerful dragon, having burrowed under the ground to appear in the city, arrived at his previously ordered space. And now he waited.
Else where, a god was currently staring down the one responsible for all of this mayhem. Young children cowering behind him… Some of the slightly older ones, tears in their eyes, tried standing in the way, to block the evil god's path.
Erebus smiled. "I'd prefer to do this without killing the children by my own hands."
"As you wish, my lord." Vito, having returned just in time, replied. Vito's following insufferable act turned life to death, the young buds will never bloom.
"You love killing don't you?"
"I can't get enough of it. I wasn't able to get rid of Ganesha, but I got the girl's unborn… She had a lot of tricks up her sleeve."
The god helpless to stop anything, grit his teeth. "Erebus, explain what this disgusting thing you call a child meant by that?"
"Oh nothing much, I ordered him to kill Ganesha, but if he couldn't pull it off, then he was to end Origin Wolf's blood line. Which he succeeded in doing."
"You didn't… EREBUS! You had better hope that the young man doesn't come back from the dungeon."
"Oh, he won't, I've planned everything out, he's already dead by now."
"Foolish. Utterly foolish… You're Arcanum must be faulty if you think you can kill him with any number of children-"
"Oh? Who said anything about sending children to fight him?"
"You… You didn't!"
"Oh I did, I told them to create as many of them as they possibly could! Floor 71, I wonder how strong they'll be?"
The other god heard 71 and almost flinched. "Heh you foolish god. Floor 71's monsters might as well be planning out the appetizer, before the main course."
"What do you mean?"
"You'll find out soon enough. I may be just a lower god, but I am from the norse. You'll bear witness to your very own destruction. And I'll be laughing, and waiting for your return. I can not wait to kill you, over and over again."
Erebus chuckled, and drove his dagger into the god's heart. "You think you can kill me? Look at what just happened, you're helpless."
"You fool, drunk on your own power, you can't see just how weak you really are. I'm still not using Arcanum like you are. And yet, I am still here." He wound up a powerful punch to Erebus' gut. "Remember this moment, because you can best bet, I won't ever forget it."
The god turned to light, and returned to Tenkai. The first pillar of light.
Erebus, and Vito moved with a purpose, as shortly after, two more pillars shot up to the sky, and then… two more. Erebus took care of another one. And the cycle continued, 20 gods in total returning to Tenkai, all at once.
…
The combat lines started cracking as the lights shot up. Adventurers started losing their powers, they felt incredibly weakened, and a tear fell from their eye.
"Squad Captain, adventurers are losing their strength!"
"Everyone, listen to my orders! Members of Ganesha, and Hathor familias continue holding the line! Everyone else, retreat to the central tower, bring everyone back. 20 gods have just left Genkai. Our allies are weakened, don't let them die."
"Yes sir!"
"Nice orders there. Now I can really let loose without worrying the novices will get in the way." A member of Hathor familia smirked.
"What are you planning to do now?"
"Kill the Evilus bastards."
"Well duh!"
…
At the front of battle, on West Main street, a man, and woman fought, on nearly equal footing. The woman, a crazed, and deranged, murderous psychopath… The man, a loyal member of the Hathor familia, was once a forever level 2, but that all changed when the training changed.
Blades clanged against each other, illuminated by the flickering fires, and now the immense strength of golden light filling the skies.
"Oh yes! It's finally happening! The gods are leaving! Time for you to die too!"
"Shut up you psycho bitch."
"Awe don't be like that, I just want to kill you is all, why do you resist!?"
"Isn't that obvious? I worked my ass off to get here, I am a level 4 of my goddess' familia, a loyal child to Lady Hathor! I will not go down without giving the enemy the fight of their life!!!!"
"Huh? Level 4? With that kind of strength? Impossible. You've not used any abilities, or skills."
"What's so hard to understand? Never fought a perfect level 4 before?" Well nearly perfect, but this bitch doesn't need to know that.
"You mean full status? That shouldn't matter, I'm level 5!"
"Oh but it does, you've probably averaged about 600 to 700 points in most of your stats, right?"
"How… Did you know?"
"Hehe, call it intuition, or skill, doesn't matter, you're going down."
"Damn you! Just die already!"
Valletta charged in for the kill, her cool mind having been overcome with the hellish situation. She didn't even kill a single adventurer, the others would laugh at her. However…
"What?"
Her charge was stopped in its entirety, and she couldn't move.
"I am my Lady's hand, I will punish evil. You've been locked in place, now…" He made dozens of slashes. "You're too weak. You stupid psycho bitch." He said, releasing his skill and Valletta fell into tiny chunks on the ground. Her vile blood polluted the ground. "Now then, on to help the others. A shame that Barca disappeared, humph, coward."
The Spirit Warriors also fell soon after, though he was unable to use the skill he'd used against Valletta for a very long time, and despite the massive amount of stamina the skill demanded, he could still keep up with the Loki familia members, finishing off the Spirit Warriors together. Albeit, he was extremely reluctant to fight alongside them.
…
Above the city, a group of figures stood atop the back of a giant dragon, clad in a black so deep, it made black look well, gray.
One of them raised their hands and laughed maniacally!
"OH! Isn't it just wonderful! The destruction of Orario! And the gods who've now left for Tenkai. Hear me! I am Erebus! The god of absolute evil! And this is my will! Such beautiful terror! It's truly magnificent!"
There was a long and eerie pause.
"You've done well to survive this first attack, but the next shall be truly hellish. Wallow in despair! For your hero has already been killed deep in the dungeon's depths! YOU HAVE NO SOLACE! LET ME TASTE YOUR DESPAIR!"
The dragon flew off, as the light pillars vanished.
