Chapter 207 - C207 : Reactions From All Over (1)

Elsewhere in the world, god at the top of his country, watched what was happening with a curious expression.

"This is troublesome. If that young man dies like this… Things will never improve here in Gekai. The gods might just leave, taking their favorite children with them to Tenkai."

The god's name was Ares, one of the many gods of war that had made the world of Gekai their home, and even more still remained within their temples back in Tenkai. He got up from his special throne, above that of the king of this nation, and he walked around, eventually settling on pacing back and forth, his mirror shifting views until he got a close up shot of what remained visible of Shurry's back despite the gaping hole in his torso.

"Huh? Wait a minute… No, that doesn't make any sense, a skill without a name?"

He thought for a moment, but couldn't figure out what it might have been caused by, when he noticed something gave him a smirk.

"Heh, Now that's the spirit…"

Flash to a meeting room with the four gods aboard the School District…

"NO SHURRY! MY BABY!!!!!"

Idunn was crying holding a stuffed wolf, tight, as if to assuage her pain.

Baldr did his best but he couldn't even speak right now.

It was up to the other two to keep searching for hope, when they saw something…

"Baldr, you're gonna want to see this. Look at the skill below the wound."

Baldr struggled to keep his eyes cleared enough to see straight. Managed to look in the mirror…

"Huh? How's that work?"

"I have no idea, but it could be something… The only one here who would know better is Idunn."

Idunn cried harder, but she peered out with but a single eye. One that widened.

"Mystery? No, that would still be written… Is this what I think it might be? Something that even the falna can't unlock?"

"You mean something it can see, but can not measure?"

"Maybe… Werewolves, who created them?"

"Zeus… by accident, an incredibly long time ago, but they died out once."

"Lycanthro… He recreated them a while ago, and then…"

…

Zeus held one eye closed, watching the situation unfold… Alfia, Meteria, and Zald knew something was up, as despite his effort to hide it, Zeus was getting distracted, and slightly agitated… An awkward thing to do when he's reading a children's story to Bell and Meda, until they fall asleep.

The two grew up as if they were siblings. So they'd cuddle up and listen to the stories Zeus told, with eagerness, until they'd fall asleep… once they were good and truly asleep, and the door was closed…

"Alfia-"

"It's done."

Alfia had set up a silent zone in the main room.

"Zeus, you're watching something in one of those mirror things, aren't you?" Zald questioned, making sure it was obvious he wasn't playing around.

"I am…"

"It better not be peeping again."

"You may have wished that it was after seeing this… I don't think it's a good idea to share this with you."

"Why's that?"

"Because you'd all flip out, and there's nothing you can do about it."

"You're peeping, perv." Alfia's rejection hit Zeus like a stake through the heart.

"I swear it's not-"

"I'd believe you, if you never said that, every time that it was." Meteria added, drinking down some of the special wine that'd been delivered just a couple months ago. "Now that is delicious." And then nommed down on her favorite fruits. "Little brother really knows how to make me happy."

"You should take those slow, it may be difficult to get more of them anytime soon…"

At that comment, Hera opened a mirror to the same scene… And instantly wished she hadn't.

The fruit, that Meteria would never even think of wasting fell from her agape mouth.

Alfia… Opened her eyes, a confused rage behind her stare.

Zald, furious, stood up and started dawning his armor. A look of pure, unadulterated rage filled his expression; there wasn't any room for anything else.

"Zald, wait."

"If it hadn't been for me passing out, Lyca would be the one standing here now. Not me. You think she'd be waiting, the moment she saw that?"

"You aren't able to do anything to this foe. Young Shurry exhibited power far beyond what any of you have, even now with your new level 9 status. Let alone your level 7 status Meteria."

"Zeus! What the hell happened!"

Alfia demanded, she'd been the twin who'd had feelings for Shurry, but she never could bring herself to speak of them… the age gap between them, combined with the fact he'd already had a girl his age in mind.

"I need all of you to calm down, Zald, sit back down. I'd rather not compel you to."

Zald reluctantly sat back down, but he was still preparing his armor.

"You have until my armor is on to explain the situation."

And so, Zeus began showing scenes of what happened in Orario over the last handful of days, offering extra information about why Shurry had to go down into the dungeon in the first place, all the way to what was going on now. AS he did, Zald had slowed dawning his armor.

"Zeus, we should have been there to help him-"

"Zald, I understand why you think this way." Hera spoke, hating the fact she was agreeing with Zeus on something like this. "The city rejected us, and backed Freya, and Loki familias instead. Shurry's done his best since then to grow as strong as he is now. You are not strong enough to help him in this fight."

Hera changed her mirror to show a scene of what happened not too long ago…

"What? You mean to say, he's grown that strong? He defeated both of those monsters by himself?"

"Yes, they were resurrected using a spirit creation method us gods can use. It's similar to what Shurry did to give you those fairies…"

Zeus's words clammed up towards the end.

"Zeus, what are you not telling us? Something else happened, and it's bad."

Zeus stood up from the table and looked at a picture on the wall, gently rubbing his hand along the part where a baby Bell was held in Meteria's arms.

"A gift Shurry gave you, that has allowed you to safely have this child, and survived long enough to help raise him… He and Ardee were expecting a similar joy… But, Erebus' child Vito, cut out Ardee's belly in a battle she was not supposed to be in… forced it was more like it, so now… This joy you've experienced Meteria, he's lost it by the whims of an evil god. And is why he fought him with everything he had."

Meteria's reaction, she needed more than a few hugs after that realization, she knew just how good it felt to have Bell, and was now imagining what it would have been like had she lost him.
