At the final bounce of the mattress, Rorden pressed his large frame down against me. His hand wandered toward the front of my bodice, fingers eager to tug it down.
Too fast! If he yanked it off now, the vial I had hidden inside would surely fall.
I swiftly grabbed his wrist, halting him, and gave a saccharine smile to diffuse the rising heat in the air.
"Easy there. I'm more of a slow-burn romance type."
"That so?"
Rorden scoffed, tilting his head back slightly to peer at me with something close to pity in his eyes.
"Too bad. I hate romance."
Without giving me time to react, he yanked at my clothes with brute force. The fabric ripped. Even my corset snapped open. I gasped, cold air hitting my skin as I hastily wrapped my arms around my chest, trapping the vial in place.
Damn it. He acted like a beast.
"Getting shy now?" Rorden's finger traced slowly down my cleavage, making it hard to breathe. "You were so bold just a moment ago."
