"You wanted to see me?" I asked Alpha Blake, who was pacing in the hospital corridor. He stopped immediately when he saw me, rubbing a hand over his face before meeting my eyes, "Aurora," he said, "I know this isn't easy for you, but… the doctors have decided to remove the tubes today. They say he isn't responding."
Though I had told myself countless times that I hated the man who used to be my best friend, but … still… I could feel my heart sinking.
Being careful, I didn't change my facial expression, "So?"
He blinked, clearly thrown off by my flat tone, "So? So, maybe you should see him. Just once… before they…"
"I don't think that's necessary," I cut him off, trying to steady my voice as I placed my hands in my pants pockets.
He stayed silent and stared at the floor that he was digging with his shoe tip, "Please?" just one word, and then he tilted his face sideways, hiding the disappointment behind that smirk, "Whatever happened in the past… you…"
