"The New School"
George Harmeston was a handsome, sexy and quiet young guy of eighteen years.
He work up early at six that morning knowing it was his first day at the academy. He took his bathe, brushed his teeth and wore his newly bought clothe. After some minutes he went to their well furnished dinning room with his family waiting for him there. He greeted them all, sat down and ate few spoons of his food when the car that is to take him to the academy horned outside their tall white mansion.
The Haverstock hall, a great mansion with stone figures on the terrace and seven figures in the price. Sir Harmeston George's father had lived here for some years. He also seemed to own half of the Lancashire Countrysides. The grounds stretched for miles in every direction with sheep dotted across the hills on one side and three horses watching from an enclosure on the other. The house itself was Georgian; white brick with slender windows and columns. Everything looked neat. There was a walled garden with evenly spaced beds, a square glass conservatory housing a swimming pool and also a series of ornamental hedges with every leaf perfectly in place.
The car that parked outside their iron gates which opened automatically for George to go out. The driver, a retired FBI agent, carried a subcompact pistol in his pocket and he knew how to use it. There were just ten steps from the point where the car parked at the entrance of the mansion to the iron gates.
He greeted the man with a smile and the man replied him with a smile. They both got into the car. Two minutes later, the car drove off. George watched as Haverstock hall disappeared behind them, he looked at the driver hunched over the steering wheels of the car, his eyes hidden by his googles. He eased himself into the chair and let himself be carried away by the busy road.
The Academy had been built by a very wealthy professor. He remembered what his father had told him as the car parked at the entrance of the academy. His imagination had finally came to reality, the academy was right in front of him. Now he could see the beautifully designed building for himself. The academy was three floors high, but the windows were spaces and designed in such a way that intruders could not tell where one floor ended and the next began. He took a few steps to the gate which automatically opened for him and inside the surrounding was a beautiful and well designed courtyard that was square in shape. He was sure that the building was designed by the world's best architect. The academy was surrounded by boys and girls of his own age. They all wore the same blue and gray uniform. He was approached at the gate by the school's security officer who led him to the director's office.
It was cold outside, although it was almost the end of April. The snow covering the roof still hadn't melted, and everything was white for as far as the eye could see. They went through a door in the side of one of the towers and down a spiral staircase that took them to the ground floor. Now they were in a long, narrow corridor with doors and well-ventilated open windows - classrooms, the security officer explained. "You will see them later." George followed him through the busy building. The atmosphere in the building of the academy was warm. After they had walked for a minute, he found himself in the main reception hall of the academy, which had a door inscribed on it: "Director's Office." The man knocked on the half-opened door. "Come in." The door was opened, and there was a man of about age fifty-five sitting on a modern chair. His office was modernly built with different designs made on the wall. There were three chairs in the office, one of which was gold and antique. His head came up as George and the security man entered.
"Good morning, George," he said. "Please, do have a seat."
The security officer turned and said, "I would like to leave." The director said, "Yes, please, you can. Thank you."
George walked three steps into the office and took one of the chairs and sat down. "My name is Professor Daniel," the man continued. "I am very pleased to meet you and to have you here."
George smiled at the man who was the director of the academy. "How maturely he looked," he thought, and the design of the office was like something a scholar would have. For a moment, he was lost for words, then he recovered. "Thank you, sir, for having me here. Nice academy," he said.
"Thank you, George. I really appreciate," there was emotion in Daniel's voice. So far, he had only smiled twice. He looked straight but calm and accommodating. George sighed with relief. "This academy is unique," Professor Daniel explained. "As you will soon discover, all boys and girls have the same character, and we've been given a lot of merit due to our good level of education and integrity in our work."
"We have had the sons of wealthy persons like yourself. We have guards that are here for your protection because we've become a target for terrorists." "That's very kind of you," George said politely. "There is a good library here used for reading for boys and girls, and there are opportunities for sport and any social activities." He further said some few things, and after two minutes, he said, "You may leave." Calling the security officer, "You will be taken to your classrooms by the man who brought you here," he said.
George stood up. The first girl he saw at the classroom entrance, was an average-height girl with long dark hair, dark blue eyes, and wore a very new Star Wars T-shirt, baggy jeans, and a hoodie. On her right hand, she was wearing a Richard Mini watch. George guessed she looked somehow calm and friendly. "Fiona, friend?" she said. "George Harmeston" George said
" "Can we be friends?" "Yeah, sure, we can," Fiona replied. "Come inside. The lessons of today will soon commence." "Oh, sure. Can I sit with you for the meantime?" George asked. "Okay, you can," Fiona answered.
Lessons for today commences now. The subject would be biology.
After the lessons, it was lunchtime. He went to the academy canteen to get some candies and snacks. That was when he saw her and smiled at her and he went to seat near her in the canteen, so he decided to sit beside her and discuss some things to know more about her because he had started developing some feelings for her. "Hey, hey, Fiona, how are you?" he said. "I'm fine, and so I hope you are enjoying the warmth of this academy," she answered. "Yeah, I'm great," George replied. "Can I get to know more about you, maybe your former school, your hobby, and other things you could tell me?" Fiona asked. He replied, saying, "Yeah, I'm from Eton. I was actually in the hop garden, but I had to change it due to some family issues, and I'm eighteen years old." "Wow, that's a good school. I've heard and read about it," she replied. "I've also read about the statue at the entrance of the main gate, the statue of Henry the Sixth, who founded Eton. I guess I'm right." "Yes, that's absolutely true," George answered.
After that chat with her, George had finally started loosening up with her. As the chit chat was about to bring another phase, the bell for lessons was rung. They had to quickly pack up their belongings and get ready for other classes. Luckily for him, he and the girl were in the same department, both in the sciences department. The class after break was chemistry. They were both paired to do an experiment. After the chemistry experiment, the bell rang for the closing time. They all carried their bags and left the academy.
The car that brought him to the academy that day was waiting for him outside, ready to take him home. He bid farewell to his other classmates and Fiona, who was about to enter her personal car, and said goodbye. He entered his vehicle, and the driver drove him. The vehicle accelerated down the road, turning left and then right, while George was thinking about Fiona, whom he had just met today.
As the journey home continued, the driver hit the inevitable three o'clock traffic jam, coming to a halt about two hundred yards ahead. After the hassle of the traffic jam, they finally got to the house, and the car was parked outside. George got down in a happy mood, smiled at the driver, and said thanks. He walked a few steps into the building and went up to his well-furnished room. He smiled at the horizontal mirror, which stood on the left side of his room, and said, "Oh my God, I'm so happy today. I have found a new girl in my life. Oh my, she's so beautiful and gorgeous," he said. He removed his clothes, took a shower, and laid on his bed, thinking about her till he fell asleep.
The next day, the academy was alive with the hum of activity. Students and teachers were coming in and some going out. Amidst the crowds, George and Fiona stood out. They were part of a crossing in a way that would change their lives foreve
Fiona was walking into the school from a vehicle, looking happy and excited, mixed with curiosity and wonder. Her eyes scanned the school as she walked into the class. She collided with George, scattering her books all over the entrance of the class. Apologies were exchanged, and George helped Fiona gather her scattered belongings. Their hands touched, and a spark of electricity ran through both of them. It was as if time had slowed down, and all that mattered was the present moment.
"I've got your book," George said, smiling as he handed over to Fiona her chemistry book. "But maybe I should buy you a drink during break to make up for it," he said. Fiona's heart skipped a bit. There was something in George's warm smile that put her at ease. "Oh, no need for that," she replied, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I insist, I will," he further said with his warm breath close to her ear. Fiona had to accept his request by nodding her hea
The two both walked into the class. The conversation flowed accordingly, like they had known each other for years, whereas it's just two days.
The class they had that morning was physics class. The teacher came in with a warm smile. The class greeted her, and she replied with a wave, telling them to sit. They had a practical class that day, and again, George was paired with Fiona. George thought, "It looks like all the teachers want me to be paired with Fiona. I am so delighted."
The practical began and ended after thirty minutes. The bell rang, and the other classes for the day began. That was how it continued till the bell for break rang. George immediately told Fiona that they should go to the canteen.
As they walked to the academic canteen, the conversation flowed effortlessly. They talked about music, life, and shared discovered passions and interests. The canteen was cozy, with a warm atmosphere that made her feel like she was in a different world. George bought them each a pizza and a drink, and they sat down at a small table by the window.
"Hey, Fiona, what's up? I saw your dad's yacht at the marina yesterday. It's insane," George asked.
Fiona replied, "Yeah, my dad loves his toys. I'm actually thinking of having a party on its soon. Would you love to come?" she further asked. "That sounds like a blast. I would love to come," George said with a smile on his face, assuring her.
"What party exactly are you thinking of having?" he questioned. "I'm thinking of having a dinner party with all my friends," she replied. George nodded, a smile growing wider. "I will surely be there." As they sipped their drinks and ate the pizzas, George felt a connection with her which he couldn't quite explain and couldn't let it out. It was as if they had known each other for years, not just days.
The break passed quickly, and before they knew it, the bell for classes rang. George and Fiona walked back to the classroom, ready for the biology class. The silence between them was comfortable and familiar.
As classes began, the biology teacher entered the classroom and noticed George and asked him to introduce himself. George was shy, but Fiona encouraged him, saying, "George, you can do this. Don't be shy." George stood up, introduced himself, and was told to sit down.
The teacher said, "Class, excuse me. I wanna go get my lesson notes." While the teacher went out, the director came in and saw George sitting with Fiona.
He said, "George, I'm sorry, but you can't sit with her. Please take that vacant seat beside the window. That will be your seat from the onset."
George could only grumble; he had to follow the instruction and went to the seat. He was in a sad mood till after that class was over. Fiona went over to George and asked, "Why do you suddenly look moody?."
George could only grumble. He had to follow the instruction, and he went to the seat. He was in a sad mood till after that class was over. Fiona went over to George and asked, "Why do you suddenly look moody?" "I'm not happy with what the director did," George replied.
"It's nothing. It has also occurred to me when I first arrived at this academy, so please don't be annoyed," Fiona said. And the bell for closing rang.
Rumors started spreading around the school about George and Fiona being in a relationship. Every time you see a group of junior students in their class, they talk about the rumor about them. It started when Fiona's closest friend, Alia, saw George and Fiona at a party laughing together and assumed they were more than just friends.
Before long, the rumor had spread like wildfire through their social cycle. George and Fiona were supposedly dating. At first, George and Fiona were oblivious to the rumor - they were just friends, after all. They didn't think twice about it.
But as the days went by, they started to notice that people were treating them differently. Friends would ask them about their relationship status, and junior students would stare at them in public.
One day, George and Fiona were at the academic campus when they overheard two female junior students talking about their supposed relationship. One of the girls said, "I heard George and Fiona are totally meant to be. They're so cute together."
Fiona's eyes widened in annoyance, and she turned to George. "Can you believe this?" she asked quietly. "People think we're dating just because we're friends." George shrugged. "It's not a big deal, Fiona. Let's just ignore it," knowing that he had feelings for her.
But Fiona was furious. "It's not just about us, George. It's about how people perceive us. They're going to start expecting things from us that aren't true."
George raised an eyebrow. "Like what? Like they'll think we're exclusive or something? And what if we don't want to date each other? We'll feel pressure to make it work just because of what other people think," Fiona said.
George said, "It's just a rumor. It'll soon blow over"
But Fiona was beyond consolation. "You don't get it, George. I've noticed you're always so laid-back and easy-going, but I'm not like that. I care about what people think of me."
George got angry with that statement, saying, "Oh, so it's me who doesn't care about what people think of me?" Fiona replied angrily, "That's not what I meant. What I meant was that you're an easy-going person and you don't listen to what people say, either bad or good."
Fiona continued, "Whatever. I don't care what you say. What I care about now is what people will think of me." The conversation became more fierce in the academy canteen, and she left there angrily. That brought a drastic turn for the feelings that George was developing for her. Since that day, he felt betrayed by her.
The rumors continued spreading like wildfire, which made the crisis between them become escalated. It got to a point that they were being called by the academy's authorities for a brief meeting. They confronted them with a question that George and Fiona never wanted people to ask from them.
After that brief meeting, the academy authorities formed a committee of school prefects who were given the task to find out who started the rumor in the school. It was found out that it was Fiona's closest friend, Alia, who started the rumor. Alia had once told Fiona that she had developed feelings for George, and he wasn't giving her any attention. Fiona had agreed to help her out, but when she hadn't gotten back to her as promised, Alia decided to start the rumor so both of them could fight when they heard people gossiping about them.
When the academy authorities knew about this, they called Fiona and George and explained the matter to them. They also called Alia and warned her never to do such a thing again. The authorities pleaded with George and Fiona to stop the argument and come back as friends. They both agreed, but deep down, George minded. He knew he wanted revenge. He had felt betrayed, and he had lost almost all his feelings for her.
From that day on, he started giving her weird attitudes. He wouldn't agree on things, and most of all, when they appeared as partners during experiments, he would disagree and tell the teacher he wanted to do it on his own without Fiona's help. This continued, and everyone noticed the sudden distance between Fiona and George. They weren't close like before, but they still talked
As the distance between them became noticeable, George just talked to her occasionally, but deep down, he had other plans to get revenge.
