Chapter 16 - 16

Strength: 0 — Blue Silver Grass had no destructive power.

Speed: 1 — It couldn't move, but it grew relatively fast; barely worth a point.

Defense: 0 — Without enhancement, it could be torn apart easily.

Endurance: 5 — Extremely low spirit power consumption and excellent durability.

Energy: 0 — It had no energy output.

Special: 3 — Possessed strong vitality and a slight ability to sense other Blue Silver Grass nearby.

Total: 9 out of 30.

Low!

It truly was a waste spirit—only its endurance was notable.

"The situation is clear now. The only strengths of Blue Silver Grass are low energy consumption and extremely strong vitality," Tang San muttered while rubbing his chin, feigning the seriousness of an adult.

"As for the other spirit..."

It wasn't the right time to test the Haotian Hammer. Who knew if Tang Hao was watching in secret? For now, it was safer to focus on the Blue Silver Grass.

Even without testing, Tang San could make estimates:

Haotian Hammer:

Strength: 5 — Without question.

Speed: 2 — Not fast; swinging a hammer was slower than swinging a blade.

Defense: 3 — Solid, but smaller than a shield. Channeling spirit power could increase size, but it came at a cost.

Endurance: 1 — Too much spirit power consumption. At level ten, Tang San couldn't sustain it for more than thirty minutes.

Energy: 4 — It held a strange innate energy that shattered targets upon impact.

Special: 0 — Untested. Possibly overlaps with energy.

Total: Approx. 14 points.

With proper testing, it might exceed fifteen—definitely worthy of the name Haotian.

After examining the Blue Silver Grass's strengths and weaknesses, Tang San returned to the study. His eyes landed on an illustration of a peculiar plant-type soul beast:

Thousand Root Banyan

This spirit beast resembled a net made of roots. Its seeds latched onto other trees, and from there, roots sprouted, encasing the host trunk. Once rooted in the soil, it expanded underground, creating an interwoven web that suffocated nearby plants and stole their nutrients.

Legends claimed it wasn't just one tree, but a network of interconnected roots from multiple seeds, drawing power directly from the earth.

High-age Thousand Root Banyans could cover entire forests. Despite lacking mobility or intelligence, they were near-impossible to destroy once matured.

Why?

Their roots were like metal—extremely durable—and they had no central root system. To kill one, you had to destroy the entire network.

For five hundred years, no soul master had chosen this beast for a ring. Too troublesome. Not worth it.

They were soul masters, not lumberjacks.

Yet Tang San saw its value.

Previous soul masters used Thousand Root Banyan rings to harden their martial souls. But he focused on its vast root system—ideal for enhancing a plant-based spirit.

His Blue Silver Grass lacked roots. The Thousand Root Banyan could change that.

Its vitality was another advantage. Even at the seed stage, it could survive without water. As it matured, it nourished itself from the earth, becoming lush and powerful.

This was what Tang San needed.

With the decision made, he found Ma Xiunuo and Su Yuntao.

"Little San, you look excited. Chosen a spirit beast?" Ma Xiunuo asked seriously. "Let's hear it."

"Thousand Root Banyan."

"Thousand Root Banyan? That's a spirit beast with formidable vitality," Ma Xiunuo said thoughtfully.

"I recall one near the Nuoding City Soul Hunting Forest—about five hundred years old," Su Yuntao added. "It's a bit old. Want to pick another? There may be suitable alternatives elsewhere, but Ma Xiunuo and I can't leave the city."

"That's fine. I want that one. I'm confident I can absorb it."

Tang San was firm. "According to Spirit Hall's data, the spirit ring absorption limit has increased over the years. I believe I can take a five-hundred-year ring. I'm willing to test this theory personally."

"Of course, even if I succeed, others shouldn't blindly imitate. Each case depends on spirit type, physique, spirit beast properties, and martial soul characteristics."
