Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 23: WHO KNEW?

The atmosphere in Hana's room become intense, as both of them weren't holding back in this battle of chess.

It was their 7th game, Lucas with 3 wins and loses. It was all tied and the victory was to be decided in this one final battle to protect the king.

"I've gotta say, you're the only person who has managed to keep me on my toes in chess", Lucas praised her.

"I'm surprised you're this good but.....".

"Checkmate", Hana ended the battle with victory in her palms. She pulled out a move too obvious that it would be out of his sight.

Lucas bowed his head to Hana, however Hana wasn't satisfied. She insisted that she locked fingers with Lucas.

"Erm...why??", he asked.

She ignored and did it anyway.

"My my Hana...can't you wait till marriage??", Hana's mother peeping through the lock.

She panicked as her face turned red and she jumped to bed.

Lucas took his leave and thanked his parents for having him. Hana's father wasn't happy and Lucas knew why.

Moments later, he reached home to tell Mia about what he had discovered.

Agatha was cooking, Mia was on her phone as usual.

"I'm home", he placed his bag down and decided to help his mom with the food.

Before he entered the kitchen, a beep was heard, it seemed to be a text from someone.

"Mom....I think you've received another text", Mia said while vigorously pressing her phone.

Agatha was surprised because she knew that her phone was in her apron so she would have known, she checked on her phone to see, it wasn't hers.

"Not mine darling ".

"Okayyy....", Mia picked up her glass of orange juice and took a sip.

At that moment, the two ladies entered a state of complete shock.

("It can't be....it's impossible, did he finally..."), Agatha stopped with the cutting of the veggies and looked at Lucas.

Mia turned her head to Lucas' direction in a robot like way.

There was a loud silence.

("Did she...?"), Lucas thought to himself.

"I can explain....I can explain", he surrendered.

"It's too late for that, son....", Agatha placed the knife carefully and gave Lucas a death scare.

"What's her name....?", Mia cut in.

Lucas sped off to his room.

Before he closed the door to lock it shut, a deadly force peeked out of the door.

"Let's talk.....son", it was Agatha. Seconds later she tied Lucas to a chair before Mia could come.

Lucas didn't even realize that he was tied.

The ladies made their stance. I think it was good cop and bad cop or something but there was no good in the good cop.

Lucas told them what happened at Hana's, he didn't tell them the full story though.

Agatha never knew the day about Lucas' crush would arrive.

Agatha left, leaving the two in the room alone.

"So that's what you wanted to talk about huh?", Mia said as she was trying to untie Lucas.

"Not quite....".

Lucas explained what he discovered.

"Well even...if you were right?, what'd you want me to do?", she looked unconvinced.
