Chapter 21 - Discipline

Man, this week has been hectic. The new hell beasts have been way too energetic for my liking. They would cause so much chaos that the resulting mess would take at least half a day to clean up.

Charlie didn't mind, though. She would occasionally put cute clothes on them and take way too many pictures. Vaggie was visibly stressed; she would try to discipline the young hell beasts to reduce the amount of chaos they caused.

Unfortunately, they would completely ignore her and continue to cause chaos throughout the entire hotel.

Charlie and Vaggie would be completely drained at the end of the day and would collapse on their beds with a loud thump.

Luckily, my powers were slowly returning to me, and I could keep them in check while they rested.

As the weeks passed, the hell beasts finally got their powers—and with them, their names.

The first was the hellhound pup. I thought about what name I should give him for a while and finally settled on the name Geri. The name was meant to symbolize his endless and bottomless stomach.

Geri had the power to consume souls like me and utilize them, but he didn't do it in the same way I did by ripping the souls out of my targets. No, he would need to drink their blood to absorb the souls and gain their powers.

The second hell beast's name was Plagg. He was quite the troublemaker, occasionally sneaking into the kitchen and eating all the cheese. We had to buy an entire year's worth of cheese just to keep him fed.

Plagg had the power to disintegrate anything he touched, if he so wanted. Fortunately, he hadn't touched anyone—though the same couldn't be said for the furniture.

And finally, the last hell beast—I named her... Beth. Yeah, Beth. She was a type of demon cow with stone-like skin that would harden immediately in response to physical trauma.

Beth was the most behaved out of the three. At first, she was like her two brothers, but over time, she calmed down and was less of a headache for Vaggie.

As the days passed, Vaggie was finally able to discipline them and taught them to behave whenever she said a certain phrase to them.

And as much as Charlie enjoyed their chaotic tendencies, she was thankful to Vaggie for finally getting them under control.

A few more weeks passed, and they were finally trained enough to be let outside of the hotel to play in the yard.

I watched them play outside in the yard. Sure, they were making a bit of a mess in the garden, but that was easy to fix.

I then decided to go inside to fetch some snacks for them, but as soon as I got back, they were nowhere to be found.

I looked around the garden frantically, hoping they hadn't gotten lost or stuck somewhere. I eventually found a small hole in the wall and immediately recognized that they had gotten out.

I immediately flew up into the crimson sky and used my power to detect any anomalies in Pentagram City. A few seconds later, I sensed them, and I quickly teleported to where they were.

As I arrived at their location, screams could be heard from the local populace. As I looked around the area, bodies were sprawled on the floor—their insides were now their outsides.

I looked around more and finally found them. Geri was seen eating a sinner while they were trying to crawl away from him. Plagg was surrounded by a pile of cheese and was eating them one by one. And finally, Beth was sitting on a large sinner the size of a small car. She had her ability activated and was just sitting patiently on them, stopping them from moving or escaping.

I sighed, turned into a combat form, and picked them up. I placed them all on my back and headed back to the hotel, feeling a bit exhausted from the experience.
