"No way? You're an Evolver?!" Lü Heng was stunned. He couldn't believe that this unkempt guy who had been helping him out for so long was actually an Evolver.
As previously mentioned, it's nearly impossible to spot an Evolver who deliberately conceals their abilities with the naked eye. During all this time, Lü Heng had never noticed anything unusual about "Invincible Bro," whose real name was Ling Huai.
Lü Heng checked Ling Huai's Evolver profile on the computer. He was a registered civilian Evolver with no criminal record, and his abilities were clearly documented.
This meant he wasn't a person of interest. Still, Lü Heng couldn't help but wonder, "Why would an Evolver like you be working here?"
"What else am I going to do?" Invincible Bro shrugged. "Better to help out here than sit at home doing nothing."
Lü Heng stared at Ling Huai's file on the computer, then fell silent for a moment. "Yeah... you're right..."
As most of the crowd filed into the stadium to await the concert's official start, the area outside naturally quieted down. Still, a few stragglers lingered around the perimeter, likely those who had failed to sneak in earlier or simply curious passersby.
At that moment, a tall, blond-haired foreign youth wearing sunglasses approached the side of the stadium. Silently, he surveyed the building's exterior, searching for a possible entry point.
That damned identity-linked ticketing system had kept him out. He couldn't possibly walk through the main entrance without a ticket. He wondered what kind of mental illness plagued the concert organizers. Without this ridiculous system, sneaking into the concert would have been a piece of cake. But alas, there were no "what ifs" in reality.
The Longcheng Central Stadium resembled an ellipse, like half an egg laid flat on the ground. While its smooth exterior might look impenetrable, climbing it didn't seem entirely impossible.
The blond youth stroked his chin, considering the feasibility of this plan. Just then, a figure in drab, tattered clothing and a yellow construction helmet materialized beside him. "Hey, kid, what are you up to?"
His train of thought was abruptly interrupted by a rustic-looking laborer who seemed both poor and unsophisticated. The blond youth's temper flared instantly. Who does this peasant think he is? What business is it of his?
"What I'm doing is none of your concern," he snapped.
More importantly, as an Evolver—especially one from White Eagle, the Free Nation—he was accustomed to being treated with utmost respect. The only person who could give him orders was the leader he followed and revered. When had a mere commoner ever dared to speak to him like this?
In an instant, the air crackled with tension. The "construction worker" stepped forward, raising his right hand to grab the blond youth's collar. The youth mirrored the move, seizing the worker's outstretched hand with one hand while reaching for his collar with the other.
The blond youth had already planned his next move: a stylish over-the-shoulder throw that would slam the worker brutally onto the ground. He didn't care how many bones might break or whether the man died on the spot—that was none of his concern.
But the next moment, the blond youth froze. He had indeed grabbed the worker's right hand, but he quickly realized the man's strength was astonishing—greater even than his own. He couldn't stop the worker's hand, which still managed to grip his collar.
How is this possible? I'm supposed to be...
"You're an Evolver!" the blond youth blurted out, stunned.
"You're an Evolver?" The worker paused, then snapped to attention. "What the hell is someone like you doing skulking around here?"
"What the f**k?!" The blond youth couldn't comprehend it. He racked his brain, trying to make sense of it. Are there really this many Evolvers in the Dragon Nation? How can you just stumble upon one on the street?
And why the hell is he wearing construction clothes? An Evolver working on a construction site? Is this f**ing normal? Who would ever expect that?*
No! This is definitely not normal! The most likely explanation is that word got out, and this guy deliberately disguised himself and waited nearby to ambush me!
Reacting instantly, the blond youth didn't hesitate. He jerked backward, tearing his once-pristine white shirt off with a ripping sound. As the fabric tore, he turned and bolted.
"Damn it!" The construction worker threw down the scrap of cloth he was holding. He didn't understand what was happening, but the fact that the blond man had turned and fled made it clear he was hiding something. Catching him was all that mattered!
Robin's concert was about to start—how dare anyone cause trouble here?
"Brothers, let's move out!"
The crowd on the street witnessed an absurd scene: a bare-chested blond pervert sprinting at near-automotive speed, pursued closely by a down-to-earth construction worker in a hard hat, his pace only slightly slower.
"Holy shit! What's going on?"
"What the hell is this?"
"A construction worker chasing a pervert at sixty miles per hour? Why am I having this dream?"
Unlike the Fancheng Virus Evolvers, who possessed all-around enhancements, the blond youth was clearly specialized in agility, and the gap between them widened steadily.
But just then, another hard-hatted figure in construction gear appeared around the corner of the intersection ahead. Stunned for a moment by the bizarre sight, he quickly snapped out of it and charged forward, cutting off the blond youth's escape.
"Heh, so you're all using the same disguise? You're seriously underestimating me—ARGHHHHHHH!"
Completely unaware, the blond youth passed by an ordinary pedestrian by the roadside who was engrossed in their phone. As he passed, the pedestrian suddenly lashed out with a kick, striking him squarely in the abdomen.
If an ordinary person had attempted such a heroic act, they wouldn't have stopped the youth—they would have shattered their own leg. But it was clear this "ordinary pedestrian" was anything but.
Instantly, the blond youth's stomach churned violently, threatening to regurgitate last month's breakfasts. He spun several times in the air before crashing heavily to the ground.
Within seconds, three figures had surrounded him.
"What's with this guy?"
"No idea. A foreign Evolver skulking around the concert venue—he's definitely up to no good."
"I can't let that slide. Let me beat him up first, then we'll hand him over to the Bureau of Anomalous Investigations."
